The Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services is hiring a Lead Family Services Specialist II to support the Family Preservation program.

What You Do and How You Do it:

You will supervise the team in the absence of the supervisor, provide placement coordination, ensure data compliance, and provide support to staff. You will assist in planning and developing policies and procedures and evaluating service effectiveness as well as apply knowledge of Virginia In-Home Child Protective Services policies and stay up to date as things change. You may represent the Department on the Family Assessment and Planning Team (FAPT). You will lead the Department in responding to the needs of families affected by substance abuse. You will act as lead for the Department for targeted prevention efforts in the community. You will develop and provide training to include Mandated Reporter training. You could assist with supervising the Learnfare program. You will facilitate Family Partnership Meetings, serve as a VEMAT rater, serve as a liaison for CPS referrals, supervise interns and serve on a Shelter Team when the County activates shelters in times of emergencies. You will provide CPS on-call supervision to staff and may represent the Department on other state and local committees. The position will carry a small case load.

Here's What You Need:

We prefer a master's degree in social work and child protective services experience. A bachelor's degree in social work, or in the human services field, and two years minimum of child protective services experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Training and certification in Family Partnership Meetings facilitation and administering the Virginia Enhanced Maintenance Assessment Tool preferred.

The salary is $65,858 - $77,383 annually, plus an attractive benefits package and incentive for candidates with a MSW Degree.

Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, CPS registry check and education/degree verification required. This position is considered Critical Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug testing and alcohol testing. The use of medical marijuana for this position is prohibited.

You will work outside of normal business hours which include providing on-call supervision for emergencies 24 hours a day on a rotating schedule including weekends and holidays. Shift

Monday- Friday; 8:30a.m.- 5:00p.m. This position has on-call and after-hours responsibilities. This position is required to serve on an emergency shelter during times of natural disaster.
