As a Facilities Reliability Engineering Lead, you will provide site wide technical leadership in all areas pertaining to Utilities, buildings & structures, and Electrical/Plumbing/Mechanical systems. The role supports the North Haven Medtronic site containing over ~1.5MM sf of building space across 4 buildings and a parking garage. Footprint is varied and includes general office space, medical device manufacturing areas, chemical plants, machine shops, and other industrial areas. Oversight also includes Electrical Cogeneration and Fuel Cell technologies present at the site.
This role may have up to 6 direct reports and includes budgetary management of capital facility investments of up to $10MM annually. Responsibilities include planning and executing facility related projects for manufacturing, lab, office and warehouse areas; Establishing and executing Facilities cost reduction projects of ~$1MM annually; Management of mechanical systems design for improved technology, efficiency, and, reliability; Project management of facilities initiatives within cost and time goals.
A Day in the Life
Manage/Mentor direct reports and staff
Provide Technical support and expert guidance for all plant/facilities functions (HVAC/Electrical/Plumbing)
Accountable for project planning and financial justification for all north Haven site facilities capital projects
Provides technical leadership for all NHMA plant facilities related capital and strategic initiatives including review and approval of all engineering site work proposals consisting of detailed design and engineering drawings and project specifications containing equipment, materials, estimated costs and schedules.
Responsible for Project Leadership and management for all facilities engineering related capital projects including financial reporting, management of sub-contractors, and daily task oversight and management
Responsible for oversight, management, and Maintenance of on-site electrical generation systems including power plants and fuel cells to maximize site energy efficiency and benefit.
Accountable for establishing and maintaining a facilities cost reduction program including an active project hopper and a managed pipeline of projects resulting in a min. of $500K Yearly
Responsibility to establish and maintain building drawing documentation systems and assure files are kept current and accurate.
Development and issuance SOP's and PM plans for all new and existing capital equipment
Conducts research into new products and systems.
Prepares request for quotations to be used to hire consultants for specific functions throughout the facility project.
Negotiates, hires, reviews, monitors performance, approves payment, and manages external contractors or consultants.
Responsible for root cause investigation and corrective action leadership for all critical Facilities systems failures through demonstrated use of operational excellence tools.
Collaborate with operations partners to develop flexible manufacturing cell designs and process flows in support of lean manufacturing systems and corporate initiatives
Maintain global awareness of manufacturing facilities and strategies & capabilities and provide insights into technology specialties across the global manufacturing sites to project core teams.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Nice to Have:
Thorough understanding of building Mechanical and Electrical systems and current technologies that support them.
Must be very strong at Mechanical System design and optimization
Highly skilled with Excel, MS Project, and AutoCAD
Demonstrated financial acumen and analytic skills
Diverse background with prior experience in multiple disciplines
Strong Project Management skills
Trained/Certified in Lean and/or 6 Sigma
Experience in Maintenance Excellence programs and systems
