Anticipated Start Date: November 18, 2024 REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: The following duties are typical of those performed by employees in the classification, however, employees may perform other related duties not listed and not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each employee.

This is an evening position, with a tentative schedule of Monday-Friday 2:00pm-11:009m. Recommend work schedules for evening custodial staff to the Director of Facilities and Planning; Direct the daily work schedule and work orders for the evening custodial staff, including ensuring the appropriate use of cleaning supplies and equipment; Maintain and inventory of cleaning supplies, stock custodial closets, conduct annual inventory, recommend purchases to the Director of Facilities and Planning for review and approval; Coordination with vendors via phone and/or email for equipment training, supply quotes and orders, place orders per district policy and procedures; Receive shipments of custodial supplies, reconcile with shipping documents, inventory to ensure accuracy Ensure safety precautions are followed for use of all custodial machines and when working with chemicals; Participate in and directly assist with the special cleaning needs, such as summer carpet cleaning, floor buffing and heavy cleaning; Assist in maintaining current Safety Data Sheets (SDS); Sweep, scrub, mop, strip, wax and burnish floors and vacuum rugs and carpets in classrooms, offices, workshops and other work areas; spot clean and shampoo carpets; Clean classrooms, restrooms, showers, shops, cafeteria, offices and related facilities as assigned; mop spills, using proper safety precautions and wearing protective gear when necessary; and remove gum and debris; Clean and disinfect drinking fountains, sinks, toilets, showers and urinals; fill dispensers with towels, soap, toilet paper and other items; clean mirrors, tile and windows; dust and polish furniture and woodwork; Wash windows and walls; clean dry boards and erasers; Lock and unlock doors and gates as appropriate; maintain security of assigned areas according to established guidelines; turn alarm system on and off; turn lights on and off; Pick up paper, trash and debris around school grounds and in buildings; sweep and clean walkways and entrances; empty and clean trash and garbage cans; replace liners; Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffer, carpet cleaner and sweeper and utilize mops, brooms and other related equipment; Set up classes and events as required; move and arrange furniture and set up chairs, tables, bleachers and equipment for special events and activities; Drives and/or operates district owned vehicles; may drive and set up at offsite locations; Drive from one facility to another to perform assigned custodial duties and safely transport cleaning supplies and equipment; Assist and advise student employees; Prepare student employee expectations, recommendations for evaluations, student work assignments; Respond to emergency custodial calls; Assist and advise student employees; Perform related duties as assigned. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, and Three 3 years of experience in performing custodial duties, including knowledge of appropriate use of custodial equipment, supplies and basic building maintenance preferably in a public service environment, and Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Desirable Qualifications Two (2) years of experience in an office and/or classroom setting which includes assigning and training custodial staff in building maintenance, cleaning methods, disinfectants and use of custodial equipment.

Personal Ability to direct a custodial crew to ensure safety rules and processes are followed. Ability to perform custodial tasks and related maintenance work as assigned.

Work well with student employees, faculty, staff and students. Special Licenses/Certifications Valid California driver license. Acceptable driving record and qualify for insurability by the District’s insurance carrier.

Knowledge of: General custodial duties. Proper methods of using and storing custodial supplies and equipment.

Proper lifting techniques. Basic administrative/clerical procedures Basic building maintenance and repair. Ability to:

Supervise a custodial crew and assign work schedules. Maintain custodial supplies and inventory at appropriate levels for district operation. Ensure that district custodial safety practices are following by others.

Perform custodial duties to maintain buildings and grounds in a safe, clean and secure condition. Learn proper classroom set-up. Maintain tools and equipment in a safe and orderly manner.

Meet assigned schedule. Learn district safety practices and procedures. Communicate orally and in writing.

Use of computers, phones and other communication devices Follow safe work practices. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 1. Ability to stand and circulate for extended periods of time. 3.

Ability to see for purposes of reading labels, instructions, rules and policies. 4. Ability to hear and communicate to receive and give instructions. 5. Ability to bend and twist, push and pull, stoop, kneel and crawl. 6.

Ability to lift 50 lbs. 7. Ability to carry 40 lbs. 8. Ability to reach in all directions. 9.

Ability to work at heights. 10. Ability to ascend and descend ladders. 11. Ability to operate cleaning equipment. 12.

ENVIRONMENT Community college campus serving a diverse student population. May include a Children’s Center. Small custodial staff requiring flexibility to provide a clean and orderly environment for students, faculty and staff.

This is an evening position, scheduled Monday-Friday 2:00pm-11:00pm. PAY RANGE Range 16 on the Classified Employees Salary Schedule, with a range of $23.33 - 28.35 per hour. This is a full time position and eligible for participation in District health and welfare programs.
