The Lead Specialist performs and supervises the activities and functions of all Specialists and serves as the central point of contact regarding Specialist activities for ESS services when a Specialist is assigned at a specific location within a region. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, the Lead ESS Specialist screens referred self-pay patients for programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, Medicaid for Nursing Home Placement, Crime Victims, Vocational Rehabilitation, QMB, SSI and any/all other third party coverage including other available local, state and federal programs and the Hospital's Financial Assistance Program; and provides Point of Service collections for self-pay patients, patients who have balances after insurance or Medicare payments, and patients that do not qualify for any programs/coverage.

The Lead ESS Specialist must have the ability to perform and train all duties of the Onsite Representative position. The position requires this individual to be able to travel as needed to remote facilities located across the United States, involving driving, flying, renting car, and staying overnight in a hotel. The individual must be capable of managing travel expenses for 30 days at a time, while awaiting expense report reimbursement.

VIEW JOBS 9/25/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-12-24T00:00 This position is responsible for processing all Eligibility Screening Services approvals. This requires verification of billing information, updating databases and systems, processing adjustments, assuring timely billing of accounts and account is accurately processing through the revenue cycle. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: * Ability to accurately analyze and comprehend various reports in various formats * Ability to accurately analyze claim information from various systems in order to determine the next actions to take on an account * Research and escalate discrepancies prior to billing accounts for corrections. * Responsible for the proper input of billing information including payer, subscriber, policy and group numbers, effective dates and other details necessary for billing and expedited claims processing. * Responsible for reviewing, assessing patient accounts and insurance information to assure accurate billing information was entered in Artiva and hospital Host systems * Ensure correct discount/contractual transactions are applied in the various host systems * Ability to analyze and determine the claim status based on interpreting the claim status program billing notes * Responsible for changing primary, secondary and tertiary insurance and assignment of correct financial class. * Follow up timely to assure accounts are billed or obtain status or reason for delay. * Utilizes the ARTIVA system to the fullest capacity * Observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired concerning the personal, financial, medical, or employment status of patients, their families and staff. * Follow accepted safety practices for patients and hospital, report safety hazards and initiate appropriate action, and participate in safety instructional programs * Follows proper chain of command and reports issues, problems and important information to immediate Supervisor, Manager, and Director. * Creates a collaborative, productive work environment through positive relationships and interactions with Leadership, Peers, Public and others. * Other duties as assigned Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty accurately. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Demonstrated knowledge of insurance including types of coverage * Knowledge of medical terminology and billing processes * Preferred knowledge of Medhost and related financial classes but not mandatory * Experience navigating websites for on-line benefit reviews * Computer knowledge to include all Microsoft applications, various hospital Host systems, on-line portals and tools. Excellent computer skills required. * Detail-oriented, organized with the ability to work on many projects at once. Capacity to work quickly and process accounts in a timely manner. * Ability to work well under pressure as work is time sensitive. Must be able to function effectively in fast-paced environment with multiple demands and deadlines * Able to work with difficult public and issues * Display strong analytical qualities * Prior healthcare experience required; revenue cycle experience a plus * Intermediate Excel experience required * Ability to filter, sort, and create pivots and work accounts from the pivot Reasoning Ability: * Must be able to follow directions and perform work according to department standards when no directions are given. * Must be able to read, write, and follow instructions and document in English * Requires ability to effectively plan and organize. * Must use math and other skills to resolve and handle large volumes of accounts Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, high volume of talking, listening, reading and writing. Ability to stand, walk and sit for long periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. , Language Skills: Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret common financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from patients, employees, customers and regulatory agencies.
