Lead Equipment Maintenance Technician - Springfield, Ohio
Works in a safe manner, adhering to all applicable company and OSHA safety guidelines. Maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery, mechanical equipment and electronic equipment. Builds mechanical systems, electronic systems, components, and parts by completing assembly and testing procedures. Performs all aspects of electrical installation and hook-up of electrical distribution. Provides direction and leadership to the maintenance staff in the absence of the Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Serves as the Maintenance Point of Contact and liaison to manufacturing.
Have demonstrated knowledge of all product center operations and the ability to demonstrate process proficiency (expected to spend 80% of their time on direct labor task jobs).
Meet, as needed, with cross shift counterparts, team employees, Operations Managers/Supervisors and Team Lead counterparts on a daily basis at start and end of shift (effective communication skills).
Lead daily maintenance activities including assigning jobs, training, resolving problems, etc.
Coordinate daily work assignments and hold stand up meetings to review metric results and improvement suggestions.
With feedback from on-shift manufacturing supervision, sets the on-shift priorities real-time and assigns directs the on-shift maintenance staff.
Ensures production operations by determining work priorities and scheduling repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment.
Conduct periodic safety audits to proactively identify and resolve potential safety issues.
Keep daily metrics up-to-date and use to drive improvements. Troubleshoot and escalate issues that prevent the team from achieving goals/objectives as required to resolve issues beyond control of the team employees.
Contributes to a Team Effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Maintain daily communication with team members.
Encourage good performance, good attendance and motivate employees using appropriate feedback methods, including teaching, training, coaching and counseling. Be an effective listener to fully understand the needs of the team.
Provide feedback to supervisor on employee performance.
Train and develop other team members. Demonstrate flexibility in applying vocational and technical skill in ways that support achievement of the team's performance targets.
Ensures that Work Orders and Dispatches are addressed in a timely manner, based on priority.
Minimize machine downtime by ensuring quick response time to priority issues.
Monitor CMMS and work with production to resolve maintenance problems by conferring with operators, management, engineering, and quality control personnel, outside contractors and service personnel.
Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
Minimizes equipment downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance schedules; monitoring compliance.
Develops and executes preventative and predictive maintenance system to minimize equipment downtime by developing PM checklist, downtime tracking system for planned and unplanned maintenance, and monitoring overall department equipment uptime.
Ensure on-time completion of preventative maintenance activities - completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
Performs all aspects of electrical installation including: running of conduit, sizing of conductors, grounding, hook-up of electrical distribution, transformer connections and motor controls, etc.
Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions, requests and recording maintenance operations.
Provides utilities by directing installation of, modifications to, and maintenance activities on equipment.
Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
Maintains maintenance supplies inventory by researching supply quantities; designing inventory systems; determining inventory levels; anticipating needed supplies; placing and executing orders; approving orders.
Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; establishing personal networks; participating in technical decision making.
Performs on-shift training of the maintenance staff.
Ensures customer satisfaction.
Drive continuous improvement actions.
Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
Assist in applying lean manufacturing concepts and 5S.
Identifies and strives for continuous improvement in all aspects of job performance, education, processes, procedures and methods.
Perform tasks/duties related to special projects, assignments or other duties as assigned by department management.
Follow all company safety policies and report any unsafe conditions to Manufacturing Manager, EHS Manager, and/ or Director of Manufacturing.
Ensure safety throughout the department.
Protects employees and visitors by maintaining a safe and clean building.
Recognizes and rectifies potential unsafe conditions.
Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the Silfex Quality Management System and properly apply Quality Procedures and Operating Procedures as appropriate.
Act as a key member of the facility emergency response team.
Subject to call-in during off-shift and weekends as needed.

Must be a high school graduate, or have a General Education Degree (GED), an Associate College degree in engineering is preferred.
Minimum 10+ years of Maintenance and/or Supervision experience.
Have or obtain certification for lift truck, scissors lift and other service and maintenance equipment.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to read and understand construction drawings.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Must have clear and precise communication skills.
Must be able to work effectively individually and in a team environment.
Must be able to pay close attention to details.
Must be able to perform successfully under minimum supervision.
Must have experience using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
