Lead Engineer- Product Development
Advanced Cooling Technologies, Inc. (ACT) is a premier thermal management solutions company, focusing on custom applications of two-phase heat transfer technology. Our Tekgard division specializes in engineering customized thermal management solutions for military, government, and industrial applications. Currently we have openings in our York facility for a Lead Engineer, Product Development.
SUMMARY: This is a hands-on position and involves all aspects of planning and managing Product Development projects from bid and proposal (B&P) to final deliverables. Perform mechanical and thermal design and analyses to support project requirements. Manage all aspects of engineering projects including concept generation, proposal development, project schedule, personnel allocation, progress tracking, customer interaction, and budget control. Manage multiple projects, engineers and technician staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Assist Sales and Marketing personnel in evaluating potential opportunities.
Write proposals and/or quotation for customers including Bill of materials and engineering hours estimates, as required.
Conduct electrical, mechanical, structural, and thermal design analyses per customer specifications.
Generate technical data package including drawings and recommended spare parts lists per customer requirements.
Document reports, both interim and final, detailing program progress, problems, and proposed solutions.
Communicate progress with customer using tools such as an Integrated Master Schedule, Action Item List, Risk Register, etc.
Generate, disposition, and implement Engineering Change Notices and generate Configuration Management Accounting Sheets, as required.
Mentor engineers and technicians by completing Quarterly Performance Reviews with Product Development staff
Help recruit and interview new engineers and technicians.
Document program schedules.
Establish and document work plan for laboratory technicians to complete proposed tasks.
Evaluate and report test results.
Responsible for the financial performance of the Product Development Team.

Bids & Proposals
Bookings, Revenue & Expenses
Authorize disposition of Nonconforming Materials.
Coordinate activities with regard to risk assessment, as required.
Conduct a review of customer Contracts, as required.
Follow all company rules and policies.
This includes being familiar with, and following, ITAR/export guidelines pertaining to e- mails, technical information and products designated as either ITAR or export controlled.
Follow Digital Product Definition and Coordinate Measurement Systems procedures, as required.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:
B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering or Science related fields such as Physics with a minimum of 8 years in a technically oriented company.
M.S. degree in Engineering Management or M.B.A. is preferred.
Prior experience in using modern design and analysis software such as SolidWorks (CAD), Autodesk, Mathcad etc.
Good verbal and written skills essential.
Managing in-person and web/video presentations is essential.
Prior experience using FEA and/or CFD.
Prior experience in the design and development of custom thermal products.
Prior experience in Sales and marketing of thermal products.
WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to stand and walk frequently

The employee will need to perform tasks requiring fine manipulation and good hand/eye coordination frequently
The vision requirements include both close and far vision.

The employee will be required to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 10 frequently and 25 pounds occasionally
The work environment is office based with frequent exposure to production and technician areas, including some exposure to fumes and chemicals. Personal protective equipment is provided where required.
In this position the employee will frequently be required to analyze available data and determine the best course of action
The job requires the employee to be able to read, write, and interpret in English
The job requires the employee to use math and calculations continually
The employee will be required to use verbal and oral communication skills constantly
The employee will often be using public speaking and presentation skills and addressing groups both internally and externally
While working in this position, the employee will be responsible for directing their own day-to- day activities and the activities of their direct reports in order to meet departmental goals.
