Applies advanced engineering and network principles, theories, concepts and technologies to solve unusually complex problems and issues. The Lead Engineer position will combine duties consisting of network planning, project management, and training coordination for the Field Engineering team. The successful candidate will have exceptional organization, professionalism, interpersonal skills, and technical writing ability. The successful candidate must also understand the customer's network architecture and have the ability to modify training curriculum as needed.
Exercises considerable latitude in decision-making under limited consultative direction toward predetermined long-range targets.
Analyzes complex local and wide area network systems and/or customer network environments.
Requires limited direction and guidance with most tasks.
Support large scale project planning, design, and oversee complex deployments related to customer-specific WAN/LAN Networks.
Provide guidance related to new and existing network hardware and software in a formal training environment.
Manage SharePoint and online tracking tools related to the Field Engineer training program.
Create, review and edit Field Engineering process documentation.
Provide functional training and technical support as it relates to the Field Engineer training program.
Provide technical guidance for the composition of statements of work (SOW), engineering change proposals (ECP), Method of Procedures (MOP), and other engineering documentation as required.
Create, edit and maintain all Field Engineering procedures, checklists and training schedules with the assistance of engineering supervisors.
Ensure the Field Engineering team is qualified on all pertinent processes and procedures related to the customer network and corporate standards.
Interface with corporate Space & Power Planning as needed to support future customer projects and network migration functions.
Engage with the engineering supervisors and subcontractors to facilitate projects and augments to the customer network.
Initiate training program updates as needed.
This position requires a TS level security clearance.
Bachelor's degree or ten years equivilant network engineering experience.
Experience with implementing and sustaining telecommunications networks is preferred.
Well-versed in Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience with COMSEC procedures and handling COMSEC preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, collaboration skills, and experience in presenting to multiple levels of engineering expertise.
Broad technical knowledge of current and emerging technologies used both within the corporate infrastructure and within the customer network.
