These projects will include New Product Introduction, Direct Material Productivity, resolving customer issues, and sustaining engineering of existing products. The Lead Embedded Software Engineer will work with systems engineering and other technology functions to design, evaluate, code, integrate, and validate firmware for smart electrical protection systems.
Senior professionals ( > 5 years of work experience)
Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Design and develop embedded firmware on a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) in C language for real-time control of single and multiphase buck converters, buck-boost, boost and LLC power conversion circuits.
Model and implement closed loop digital control (PI, PID) for same. Assembly language as required for critical speed fault detection and protection.
Design and develop inter-processor communication protocols and poll/response serial protocols.
Perform lab-setting debug on functional high power/high voltage circuits. Adhere to coding standards and software engineering best practices including code maintenance in common code revision control system.
Have experience with Freescale, Microchip or Texas Instruments Microcontrollers / DSP
Ability to write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
Have working knowledge of serial communications and protocols such as PMBus
Create automated unit test programs to verify implementation to the design
Participate in the creation of system integration test plans
Demonstrate competency in an Integrated Development Environment (Microchip MPLAB; TI Code Composer).
Engage in improvements to the development process to aid productivity and to increase quality
Display understanding of the project's value proposition for the customer
Actively interact with diversified teams to define the system's technical specifications
Follow Secure Development Lifecycle including static code analysis tools like Coverity to build cybersecurity into products
Analyze results and present findings at technical design reviews to ensure design robustness, efficiency, future maintainability and supportability
Communicate with technical and product management on technical matters
Support the global development team by insuring that firmware maintains compatibility with other systems
Share engineering information and promote open dialogue
Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university and some exposure to embedded firmware development.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in building real-time embedded systems using the C programming language

MSEE in Electrical Engineering with MSCE in Computer Engineering and/or MSCS Computer Science.
Familiar with writing device driver level code
Familiar with Management System protocols (PMBUS, MODBUS, CANBUS)
Familiarity with Secure Development Lifecycle, TDD and Agile Development
Self-motivated, detail oriented, strong team player
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively
