The Oregon Convention Center is one of the largest convention facilities in the Pacific Northwest, attracting out-of-town visitors to national conventions, tradeshows and meetings, and local people to special events. The convention center's roughly 160 employees host more than 1 million visitors each year. Come join us at the Oregon Convention Center to be our next Lead Electrician, you will play a pivotal role as the General Supervising Electrician.

You will lead the charge in maintaining and repairing of all electrical systems across the convention center. Collaborating closely with supervisors and staff, you'll draw on your expertise to plan and execute electrical projects, ensuring they meet the diverse needs of our clients and attendees. From installing conduits to troubleshooting circuits, your hands-on approach will be instrumental in maintaining a safe and functional environment for both attendees and staff alike.

As a Lead Electrician, you will: Consults with manager and other convention center staff to determine job requirements. Prepares rough working drawings and schematics, estimates materials and obtains parts.

Installs electrical components such as conduits, circuit wiring, transformers, signaling systems, pull boxes, and lighting switches. Services and repairs electrical equipment, including starters, motors, switches and fixtures, and troubleshoots electrical circuits and controls. Maintains repairs, and installs industrial lighting fixtures, interior wiring, connections, switches and controls, fuse boxes, breaker panels, distribution and instrument panels, buzzer and bell circuits, audio systems, and power circuits.

Conducts installations of electrical services to buildings and other structures, including underground cables and overhead wires and performs testing and splicing of wires and cables. Oversees preventative maintenance program for all permanent electrical equipment; ensures accurate and timely records of maintenance work performed Reviews and completes work orders from the CMMS program (Asset Essentials) to ensure timely, accurate completion of scheduled preventative maintenance, work orders and tasks Research, orders and maintains inventor of lamps, electrical supplies and materials and participates in project planning, bid solicitation, and oversees maintenance crews, ensuring timely completion and accurate record-keeping. Oversees new construction work done by outside contractors, calculates loads and circuit ratings, compiles data, prepares reports, assists the public and officials, promotes safe work habits and contributes to a positive team atmosphere.

Attributes for success Proficiency in specialized and standard electrical practices, methods, instruments, tools and materials, alongside awareness of occupational hazards and safety protocols. Ability to interpret blueprints, issue oral and written instructions, make quick decisions in emergencies, and troubleshoot electrical systems. Function as the Oregon Convention Center's Signing Supervising Electrician, performing statutory inspections, authorizations, and overseeing projects.

Understanding the coordination requirements of project planning, project management, estimating materials and contractor services required. Leadership skills to train and direct day-to-day work of skilled, semi-skilled and other workers when assigned. Understanding and application of building regulations, codes and safety procedures, such as national and state building codes, the National Electrical Code (NEC) or the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Ability to work independently with limited supervision, but closely with other departments and coworkers to accomplish necessary tasks.

This position is non-exempt and is eligible for overtime.
