Lead Electrical Designer

Location: Lake Jackson, TX

Pay Rate: $65-$80 per hour

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Instrument/Electrical Designer for a short-term assignment in Lake Jackson, TX. This role is crucial for a project lasting 6-8 weeks, where you will independently perform design tasks with a high level of proficiency, adhering to industry standards and codes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Establish design criteria for project phases, applying basic engineering principles, material properties, and knowledge of construction, installation, and maintenance procedures.

• Provide conceptual input during the planning stages of the project.

• Prepare detailed and layout drawings and sketches for complex designs, using both manual and computer-assisted drafting/design techniques.

• Determine material requirements and perform necessary calculations using industry-standard formulas.

• Review manufacturers' and fabricators' prints for conformance with contract specifications.

• Provide guidance and design sketches to lower-level design/drafting personnel, reviewing their work for accuracy.

• Support field assignments, including leading field walkdowns as needed.

• Interface with other departments, clients, vendors, and project specialists to ensure project production.

Qualifications:

• High school graduate with vocational/technical training in basic drafting technology or a 2-year degree in drafting/design technology.

• 10-12 years of related experience (or equivalent working knowledge/experience) for those with high school training, or 8-10 years of experience for those with a 2-year degree.

• Strong understanding of design concepts, with minimal engineering input required.

• Proficiency in both manual and computer-assisted design techniques for moderately difficult applications.

• Ability to calculate figures and amounts, applying concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Language Skills:

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before clients or employees.
