REM Iowa, a partner of The MENTOR Network, provides services for adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities and other complex challenges.
REM Iowa is seeking Lead Direct Support Professionals to provide assistance to individuals with intellectual disabilities, brain injury and emotional, behavioral or medical complexities in a community-based setting. Take the next step in your career. Lead DSPs divide their time between providing direct care and office work. This position assists with daily oversight of individuals in services in a leadership role. Lead DSPs work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individual Plan of Cares, Individual Program Plans, monthly financial reports and to complete other necessary paperwork according to agency and regulatory guidelines. Lead DSPs may assist with staff training and scheduling, participate in a professional on-call system and need to demonstrate a willingness to work a flexible schedule.
This position provides services to people with a broad array of disabilities, whether that be behavioral, physical, or mental health through assistance with activities of daily living, such as:
Errands to shopping or activities
Transporting to medical appointments
Enjoying recreational outings together
meal preparation and planning
assisting with domestic tasks
Assisting with medication administration
Personal hygiene and grooming
Bathing and toileting
Teaching strategies to live as independently as possible
implementing therapeutic and behavioral plans
