Reporting to the Digital Communications Manager, the Lead Digital Communications Specialist is tasked with developing, implementing, and analyzing email and SMS acquisition and engagement campaigns and marketing/communications automation initiatives. Responsibilities for email and SMS marketing encompass designing, coding/producing, scheduling, and launching email and SMS campaigns to enhance communication, engagement, and conversion. Marketing automation duties involve assessing, overseeing, setting up, and enhancing the email marketing platform for lead generation, nurturing, and automated messaging. This individual embodies problem-solving skills, teamwork, leadership, a dedication to Moody's ministry partners and mission, and deep experience in email and SMS marketing.

Work with the Digital Communications Manager, ministry partners and Marketing Strategic Communications (MSC) stakeholders to design and manage email and digital acquisition campaigns that utilize best practices to drive open and conversion rates
Help with strategic projects including the migration from Eloqua to Salesforce and the introduction and implementation of SMS campaigns
Assist in defining measurement plans consisting of key performance indicators, performance drivers, and operational metrics, integrating data across initiatives and platforms to analyze the success of each email and SMS campaign, and communicate effectively with marketing stakeholders
Provide end-to-end support to produce campaigns including the design, and programming of email and SMS projects (e.g., email template layouts, HTML and CSS coding, audience segmentation, forms, landing pages, tracking)
Create email marketing strategies that effectively engage audiences according to ministry partner goals and audience needs (inform, engage, nurture, convert to donors, build loyalty)
Marketing automation responsibilities include helping to configure and improve the email and SMS
marketing system to best support demand generation, lead nurturing, and automated communications
Conduct quality assurance testing on email messages ensuring sender address, subject line, links, images, and segmentation are correct and analyze/manage unsubscribed and non-delivering email addresses
Design and execute A/B tests to drive open rates, engagement, and conversion. Analyze, develop actionable insights, and report findings for use in other campaigns
Contribute to continuous improvement and advancement of all email and SMS activities and capabilities including ministry partner comm flows, targeting, personalization, and automation in concert with stakeholders: marketing, design and technical teams
Understand and design email and automation campaigns that are compliant with spam legislation including GDPR, CAN-SPAM, and CASL
Help supervise team of any future Digital Communications Specialist(s) including training, task management, administration, and giving direction
Advise on best practices within the email and SMS channels and stay up to date with trends via training, research,
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related field
2 years of experience in email marketing, digital acquisition, and marketing automation
At least one year of experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud and familiarity with AMPscript
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive work environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to work legally in the US without sponsorship
Strong customer service orientation
Preferred Requirements
Salesforce Marketing Cloud training and certification - Email Studio, Journeys, Cloud Pages
Strong project management skills
Proficiency in HTML5 and CSS3
Comfortable working in a cross-functional environment

This is a full-time position based at the Chicago, IL main campus. While we prefer this role to be a local hybrid role requiring someone to be in the office at least two days per week, a fully remote option is available depending on the candidate. Hours typically are Monday through Friday, 8:00/8:30 a.m. to 4:30/5:00 p.m.
No travel is expected for this position.
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
