A Data Engineer works to design, build and maintain components like Warehouse, Data lake, Decision Engine etc. of the Vistaprint's Data Ecosystem, partnering with every other team such as Marketing, Analytics, or Finance- to help them achieve their goals. Whether building data warehouse, complex data pipelines, optimizing OLAP cubes, or developing internal predictive analytics tools you will be working with cutting edge technology and hundreds of-terabyte datasets. Core skills include Python, SQL, Big Data technologies (Kafka, spark No SQL DB).

Responsibilities

  • Understand Data Strategy to guide the development of the data ecosystem

  • Consult with Analytics, Marketing, Finance stakeholders to guide the development of the data ecosystem

  • Participate in the end to end delivery of business use-cases through modern data architecture in order to deliver results

  • Provide leadership to the ongoing maturity of the development process, coach/mentor the data development team on best practices and methodologies for enhanced data solution development.

  • Partner with other Domain Architects to build integration between other platforms and the data ecosystem, while working within the guidelines and boundaries set by them

  • Stay up to date on the relevant technologies, plug into user groups, understand trends and opportunities

  • Designing and building a modern data infrastructure using SQL, Python, Microsoft Azure, AWS and other technologies to process terabytes of data

  • Design and build a data ecosystem to enable diagnostic and predictive analytics capabilities

  • Working with several large and complex data ecosystem components on Azure DW, data lake, predictive modeling environment, etc.

  • Building distributed ETL systems across a range of platforms and technologies

  • Working to optimize and scale reporting technologies such as Tableau and OLAP Cubes

Qualifications

  • Deep expertise working with data all kinds, clean, dirty, unstructured, semi-structured and relational

  • Experience in real-time and batch data processing and associated technologies

  • Able to demonstrate strong skills in programming/scripting languages such as Python, Scala, Java

  • Ability to design, develop and deploy end to end data pipelines that meet business requirements and use cases

  • Strong experience with large cloud-compute infrastructure solutions such Azure, AWS and Google

  • Knowledge of UNIX/Linux

  • Strong knowledge of SQL

  • Experience leading development teams, defining development processes, evaluating new technologies and practices to enhance solution delivery

  • Minimum of BS in Computer Science or similar field required

  • Must have at least 8+ years' experience in data engineering

  • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years working hands on with Big Data technologies
