The "Lead Data Scientist, People Analytics and Insights" will report to the Head of People Analytics and Insights and will be responsible for:

  • Applying analytical/technical expertise to help solve, inform, influence, support, and execute our business decisions with workforce and business data

  • Assisting in conceptualization of analytical projects to ensure that the research is rigorous and results are actionable

  • Building statistical models across a broad spectrum of topics

  • Working with technology and various other partners to build and maintain the People Analytics and Insights database. This includes integrating multiple systems and data sources to build large and complex data sets and making them usable for analytics studies (e.g. transforming and cleaning data, working with incomplete data sources, etc)

  • Analyzing internal talent trends and translating data into actionable insights that can be shared with business leaders, HR partners and COE leaders

  • Telling a compelling story with data and presenting insights in a consumable format for varying audiences

  • Staying abreast of current trends/research in data science research and technology

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • BA/BS in a field that emphasizes data analysis and visualizations (e.g. Statistics, Applied Math, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences). Masters or higher degree is strongly preferred.

  • Strong foundation in statistical techniques, advanced research design, and analytics/decision sciences with expertise in predictive modeling, time series forecasting, natural language processing (content and sentiment analysis), network analysis, machine learning, data mining, etc

  • 3+ years of experience in:

  • Excel (e.g. formulas, charting, etc)

  • SQL (or similar language for querying relational databases)

  • SAS, R, Python and other similar scripting languages

  • Tableau and other data visualization tools

  • Experience managing and working with large databases, data management, including understanding of various data structures and common methods in data transformation, data validation and audit

  • Experience independently initiating and driving analytics projects to completion

  • Demonstrated strong collaboration skills-Analytics & Insights is a team sport

  • Strong consultative skills - ability to translate business problems into research/analytics studies, as well as ability to communicate the results of analyses with business partners to impact strategy and action

  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple research/analytics projects at the same time

  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and critical thinking

  • Business and HR acumen is strongly preferred

Job Summary: Reporting into the Americas Regional Head of Intelligence and Analytics, this position has been created for the purpose of designing and implementing the strategic direction of the GFCD Operations Intelligence & Analytics capabilities for BTMU in the Americas. This position will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight of a regional team that provides a consistent and cohesive intelligence and analytics capability covering all financial crime risk taxonomies across all products, branches and entities where the bank operates. This team will support financial crimes investigations through intelligence, advanced analytics and technology encompassing data capture, network analysis and visualization, data analysis and in-depth thematic reviews. This position will also lead and develop the strategy for a team responsible for managing key programs for Financial Crimes Office Americas (FCOA) in (1) tuning and optimization of financial crimes related systems and tools, and (2) model risk management. The responsibility of managing these programs includes developing and executing governance and change management structures covering AML and Sanctions, as applicable. Major Responsibilities: * Develop and lead a team that defines analytics to be leveraged and applied across the Americas. * Manage the deployment and enhancement of model risk and optimization programs for the Americas, including U.S., Canada, and Latin America. * Manage tuning and optimization of financial crimes systems, as applicable, including AML transaction monitoring systems, Sanctions filtering systems, and other model and non-model related tools. * Manage model governance policies and procedures in adherence with regulatory guidelines and bank-wide requirements. * Partner with Americas Model Risk Management, Global GFCD Model Governance, Financial Crime Data Office (FCDO) model owners and stakeholders, and vendors. * Manage a highly professional and technical staff, ensuring adequate technical training, performance appraisals, salary recommendations, promotions, terminations, and other administrative matters. * Execute and sustain ongoing compliance within the Americas regarding the Global Transaction Monitoring and Suspicious Activity Report Standard and the Global Correspondent Banking Standard for AML transaction monitoring. * Serve as the primary point of contact on internal audit and regulatory examination reviews. Work with FCDO senior management to formulate and implement strategic and tactical corrective action measures to address internal audit and regulatory findings. * Interact with and provide updates to senior management on all analytics and GFCD model work * Manage staff who analyze structured data to identify potential financial crime risks using statistical modeling, segmentation strategies, optimization algorithms and data mining analyses (regression, predictive). * Identify data processing tools and/or analytical methodologies (e.g., SQL, SPSS, text analytics) to drive models and/or algorithms across the Americas. * Use advanced data visualization techniques to provide support to financial crimes investigations. * Coordinate with regional Intelligence & Analytics teams to implement the global model. * Work collaboratively across functional teams within GFCD to ensure effective and efficient operations with clearly defined roles and responsibilities. * Build and maintain positive relations within FCDO, IT Group, and business partners. Requirements: * Master's degree in quantitative fields, such as economics, mathematics, statistics, and computer science/engineering or other relevant discipline. * Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics or similar with 8+ years relevant experience will be considered. * Minimum of 10 years in relevant work experience in the following areas: * Model risk management in a relevant capacity, including first line model owner, second line model risk management, and third line internal audit; and * Financial industry and compliance experience, preferably within a global organization in a role directly involved with business intelligence, or data analytics capacity. * Experience managing or leading the development, implementation, and ongoing operations of BSA/AML/Sanctions tuning and optimization program. * Experience interacting with Senior/Executive leadership, control function leadership, and compliance subject matter experts. * Substantive experience interacting with functional regulators including, for example, the OCC's Compliance Risk Analysis Division (CRAD). * Understanding of database structures (such as SQL) and how to query data from Enterprise Data Warehouses. * Knowledge of statistics, as well as experience with forecasting and prediction. * Highly skilled proficiency in the use of spreadsheets, graphing, and presentations with a working knowledge of dashboards (mastery of Excel and polished in PowerPoint). * Practical ability to visualize, communicate with, and effectively utilize, data. * Proven excellence in execution in complex and demanding situations. * Collaborative with strong interpersonal communication skills. * Systemic thinker across the enterprise. * Process oriented with a strong ability to develop appropriate program-enhancing strategies. * Detail-oriented and organized execution. * Executive-level presentation skills. * An Enterprise Risk Management perspective.
