Title: Lead Community Integration Instructor
Reports to: Program & Case Manager
Department: Individual Pathways
Location: 15141 Whittier Blvd., Whittier CA 90603
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Compensation: $19 - $21 /hr
Office Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm

Position Summary

The Lead Community Integration Instructor for Individual Pathways Program will be responsible for providing direct Instruction and working closely with program participants. Under the direct supervision of the Program & Case Manager, the Lead Integration Instructor will take on additional responsibilities, including being present for client drop off and pick up at designated locations, identifying new volunteer sites for clients, and collaborating with instructors to plan monthly calendars of person-centered activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure all clients have appropriate supervision while attending the program. This includes arrival, departure, breaks/lunches and during community activities. Supervise clients during community outings, field trips and other community-based activities. Transport and /or accompany clients to community-based training sites using ECF or own vehicle, as needed.
Provide input to Program & Case Manager in the development of Individual Program Plans; monitor the progress of clients goals and ensure that progress reports and other documentation are completed and submitted in a timely manner. Work with Program & Case Manager on developing enriched material for participants to utilize in a classroom setting.
Supervise curriculum guidelines are being followed and program design is being implemented. Model professional behavior at all times especially as related to verbal and written communication, attendance, punctuality, work habits, and safety. Ensure instructors are successfully completing duties assigned. Encourage instructor/s creativity to expand participant learning and increase program effectiveness.

Assist Program & Case Manager and Instructors with client conflict resolution; participate in discussions and/or provide information to facilitate problem resolution.
Assist the Program & Case Manager with training IP Community Integration Instructors and provide input as requested for annual staff evaluations. Ensure that staff are taking pictures during the community outings submit to the Program & Case Manager with a short summary for each picture.
In conjunction with Case Management and direct staff, ensure accurate attendance tracking for all instructors through spreadsheet management. Submit attendance to the Program & Case Manager in a timely manner for billing purposes.
Monitor volunteer and activity sites regularly and ensure that sites continue to be appropriate and beneficial to program participants.

Other Duties

Comply with ECFs Injury and Illness Prevention Program.
Ensure safe use and operation of tools and/or equipment.
Comply with ECF policies and procedures, including mandated reporting requirements.
Assist participants as needed with personal hygiene including toileting, illness, and incidents of incontinence.
Regular and reliable attendance is required for this position.
Attend in-service trainings and staff meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Licenses/Certifications: Bachelors Degree. Eight (8) years of related field experience in lieu of a degree.

Experience: Two (2) years working with individuals with disabilities.

Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with clients to provide direction and understand their needs.
Ability to write accurate and descriptive progress reports, unusual incident reports, etc.
Patience and compassion to work with individuals with a variety of special needs.
Sound judgment to make decisions and prioritize work.
Good computer skills (Word and Excel).
Ability and willingness to drive your own vehicle.
Ability to learn and identify Whittier community sites/landmarks.

Requirements

Valid California Class C Drivers License, reliable transportation, evidence of car insurance, and insurable driving record.
Pass a DOJ background investigation.
Provide evidence of a negative TB test initially and every three (3) years after.
Pass a pre-employment physical.
Obtain NCI, Medication Administration, and First Aid and CPR certification within the first 3 months of employment and maintain as required.

Work Environment

Duties are performed at a location that is shared with other ECF programs that service adults with varying degrees of learning, behavioral, emotional, and developmental disabilities. Employees could encounter individuals in crisis, exhibiting emotional/psychological distress, or behaving in an aggressive manner. The noise level is moderate to low. 75% of your time is out in the community.

Required to travel to various sites within Los Angeles County.
Ability to implement NCI, First Aid, and CPR.
Ability to stand for most of the work shift and lift up to 60 pounds.
