Lead Clinical Lab Scientist

Lighthouse Lab Services is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Medical Technologist to join a hospital Core Lab team in the Ocala, FL area. As the Lead Medical Technologist, you will oversee the operations of the core laboratory, ensuring the timely and accurate performance of laboratory tests while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. This is a full-time position with a variable shift schedule, offering competitive compensation and the opportunity to contribute to patient care in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the core laboratory, including specimen processing, testing, and result reporting.

2. Perform a variety of complex laboratory tests on patient specimens, adhering to standard operating procedures and quality control measures.

3. Train and mentor laboratory staff, providing guidance on laboratory techniques, safety protocols, and instrumentation operation.

4. Monitor inventory levels of supplies and reagents, and collaborate with procurement staff to ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.

5. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including CLIA, OSHA, and CAP standards, by implementing and enforcing laboratory policies and procedures.

6. Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives, conducting regular audits and implementing corrective actions as needed.

7. Collaborate with healthcare providers and other departments to ensure timely and accurate reporting of laboratory results.

8. Assist with troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation and equipment, coordinating with biomedical engineering or vendors for maintenance and repairs as necessary.

9. Maintain proficiency in laboratory information systems (LIS) and other computer software for data analysis and reporting.

10. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, including infection control protocols and patient confidentiality guidelines.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.

2. Current certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by a nationally recognized accrediting agency (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent).

3. Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a medical technologist in a clinical laboratory setting.

4. Strong knowledge of laboratory testing methodologies, instrumentation, and quality control principles.

5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with healthcare professionals, staff, and external stakeholders.

6. Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

8. Flexibility to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Salary/Benefits/Shift:

$52k-$84k DOE
