  • Expected to sort instruments, assemble and wrap packs, house-wide, and reconstruct surgical specialty trays and linen packs according to directions in policy and procedure manual.

  • Expected to identify instrument needs again according to OR schedule.

  • Expected to pick up soiled equipment, trays from Patient Care Units, Surgery, LD, ED if needed.

  • Expected to operate all Sterile processing equipment including washer decontaminator, steam sterilizer, ultrasonic, incubators, Sterrad and Steris Sterilizers, and heat sealer, according to manufacturer's manual.

  • Expected to decontaminate instruments and equipment per hospital policy, wears appropriate personal protection equipment (PPE) in decontamination area.

  • Expected to keep Sterile Core cleaned and restocked per hospital policy, Maintains competency in the operation of all equipment as demonstrated by in-service attendance, continues education efforts regarding new equipment or products.

  • Expected to utilize resource maps and pick tickets are used to create accurate and complete case carts.

  • Expected to maintain sterile supplies by replacing inventory as needed and putting away return supplies.

  • Required to utilize instrument tracking software to process instruments and maintain inventory.

  • Expected to perform on-call duties as assigned.

  • Expected to maintain instruments in proper working order.

  • Expected to assume responsibility for the establishment and maintenance of sterility.

  • Expected to maintain sterilization logs.

  • Expected to participate in the inventory of instruments and supplies.

  • Expected to organize the daily work assignments in the department.

  • Expected to assure that sterilization logs are properly maintained and filed.

  • Expected to schedule instruments for sharpening.

  • Expected to be responsible for receiving products and ordering new products.

  • Expected to maintain communication with Operating Room Manager.

  • Expected to recognize the influence of beliefs and cultures on behaviors and accept strengths and limitations in others.

  • Expected to exhibit adaptability, flexibility, self-control and maturity in work and behavior.
