WHAT DOES A LEAD CASE PROCESSOR DO? You will perform the full range of Case Processor duties and serve as a work advisor and technical resource to other Case Processors in the office. The incumbent executes support in the assignment, processing and closing of cases from a variety of sources. The duties involve planning, organizing and carrying out varied administrative and clerical activities required for efficient Appeals operations.
As a Lead Case Processor (OA) you will:
Lead a team of Case Processors; set priorities and deadlines; assign work to team members based on skill level, difficulty of task, priorities, etc; review/analyze technical and work-related problems/issues and recommend solutions;
Distribute and balance the workload among employees in accordance with established work flow or job specialization, assure timely accomplishment of the assigned workload, and assure that each employee has enough work to keep busy;
Keep in touch with the status and progress of work, and make day- to- day adjustments in accordance with established priorities, obtaining assistance from the supervisor on problems, such as backlogs which cannot be disposed of promptly
Estimate and report on expected time of completion of work, maintain records of work accomplishments/time expended and prepare production reports; Assist in specific tasks/techniques and provide instructions, reference materials and supplies.
Retrieve from automated systems a variety of reports and technical material including forms, correspondence, and documents that contain legal, technical, or procedural language pertaining to the administration of the revenue laws.
Research, analyze, and extract information from internal and external sources, subject to different sets of rules, regulations, and procedures. Extract portions of file, summarize data, and submit response to the requesting party.

You must have:
PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT (OFFICE AUTOMATION):
You must have experience with office automation equipment
Must be a qualified typist with a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute (based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors). Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for three years. We may verify proficiency skills of self-certified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test.
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GS-7 LEVEL: You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience with programs, policies, practices, and/or priorities in order to provide effective administrative assistance and guidance to the manager and staff. Using automated tax systems (internal and external) and computer software programs (word-processing, spreadsheets, database management, virtual communications) to update, retrieve, and maintain case status and administrative records. Experience in analyzing case information to determine the appropriate procedures to close cases involving multiple work streams. Maintaining and updating a variety of manual and automated tracking systems used in processing cases. Securing, updating, and reviewing case information to build the administrative record. Experience in administrative processes (i.e., inputting travel vouchers, inputting and validating time).
The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part- time work is considered on a prorated basis.
