Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Others may be assigned.

  • Must have a CDA, Associate's Degree, or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education

  • Must be at least 18 years of age, (must be 21 years of age to work with infants)

  • Prior Childcare experience preferred

  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified - or willingness to obtain (must renew yearly)

  • Knowledge of Paths to Quality, NAEYC, and Indiana licensing standards preferred. Willingness

to learn is a must.

  • Professional dress and appearance is a must.

  • Must be competent in language arts and math.

  • Ability to interact professionally with adults and children with a positive attitude.

  • Maintain confidentiality on job related tasks.

  • Must be willing to learn, set professional goals, and participate in job related training.

Performance Responsibilities: Others may be assigned.

  • Ensure the smooth operation of the classroom in a calm and consistent manner.

  • Maintain a clean and safe classroom.

  • Ensure the classroom meets all Paths to Quality, NAEYC, and Indiana State licensing

standards. Classrooms must be in compliance at all times.

  • Strictly adhere to Safe Sleep guidelines for Child Care Centers.

  • Monitor student's progress; communicate milestones with parents.

  • Administer record keeping on all children; including but not limited to daily records, monthly

observations, and bi-annual progress reports.

  • Use curriculum effectively and write lesson plans based on each child's ability and

developmental level.

  • Maintain rapport with parents.

The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with

hands and arms, I.E.: writing, typing, unlatching, unclasping, twisting lids, ensuring safe

feeding temperatures, etc.

The employee is regularly required to react and act quickly to ensure the safety and overall

well-being of all children.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk;

stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or

move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift

and/or move up to 50 pounds.
