The May Center School for Autism and Developmental Disabilities in West Springfield is currently accepting resumes for a full time, salaried, Lead Behavior Specialist to provide classroom leadership in a class with children or adolescents with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities during the school day.

We provide full-day, year-round educational and vocational services for children and adolescents from preschool to age 22, using proven methods of treatment and teaching based on the latest clinical and applied research.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coordination and leadership to classroom students and staff

  • Deliver student individualized and group instruction and other educational objectives

  • Design and Implement comprehensive behavior support plans

  • Conduct behavior assessments as needed

  • Train classroom staff to implement academic interventions and behavior support plans with integrity

  • Supervise classroom staff and provide support and feedback as needed

  • Collect and analyze IOA, treatment integrity and behavior data

  • Collaborate with classroom teacher and educational team using data driven decision making to modify behavior support plans

  • Ensure appropriate contact with parents regarding behavioral issues

  • Participate in home consultation as needed

  • Provide student case management

  • Manage Behavioral crisis

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis preferred; Current enrollment in Master's of Applied Behavior Analysis considered

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst preferred; Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst considered

  • Strong ABA knowledge and practical application experience required

  • Strong organizational and communication skills required

  • Experience with working with children and/or adults with developmental disabilities required

  • Experience with behavior support plans & training staff

  • Management experience preferred

  • Valid driver's license required

Who are you?

As the Behavior Specialist you will receive training, supervision, and ongoing support from Master's and PhD level supervisors within the program and the organization. You will be responsible for developing and supervising the daily implementation of behavior support plans and classroom wide interventions in a classroom typically consisting of 6 students and 6-7 staff. The behavior specialist works collaboratively with the classroom special education teacher and other specialists in a fast-paced educational environment as part of the classroom's 1:1 student to staff ratio. The teacher and behavior specialist share time off students when staffing permits. This is a full-time, year round position, and the schedule is a flexible start between 7 AM - 8:10 AM with once per week required clinical meetings at 7:40 AM once per week.
