Role Summary/Purpose

The Lead Automation Engineer will provide technical leadership in the design, development, programming, & application of process automation systems.

Essential Responsibilities

This role will identify the project and/or product requirements and develop design specifications for process systems and all components for process automation systems, including hardware and software. This role will also provide technical support and design of automation interfaces to ensure that the process automation system integrates with the customer's site enterprise system.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Generate detailed requirements for automation projects, both internally and with external customers, for FlexFactory and related products.

  • Perform the detailed design for projects by converting engineering and system design into purchase requisitions, drawings, panel designs, and installation details consistent with the specification and functional descriptions

  • Establishing process automation system test plans to determine compliance with functional and design requirements

  • Establishing methods and processes to deploy, install, and configure customer specific control and network strategies

  • Be aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position

  • Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines

  • Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required

  • Ensure compliance/closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements before approving

  • Design Control Functional Design Requirements

  • Create design documents for new product introductions (NPI) Lead continuous improvement activities by driving the implementation of process and product quality improvement initiatives


  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and at least 5 years of technical experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical or equivalent automated process industries

  • Experience in the programming of DeltaV systems.

  • Experience at biotech/pharma commercial manufacturing facility in automation role

  • Demonstrated experience in network design of Emerson DeltaV Process Automation Systems

  • Comprehensive understanding and strong hands-on development experience of application development and system/hardware integration.

  • Ability to work together and communicate both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to develop simple approaches to solve complex design problems.

  • Ability to make an impact, understands complex issues, and can clearly communicate with technology and business leaders.

  • Must be willing to travel up to 10%

  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Marlborough, MA

VIEW JOBS 4/21/2018 12:00:00 AM 2018-07-20T00:00 Responsibilities: * Work with silicon engineering, Operations and Software teams to define requirements and implement system-level test procedures that can be deployed in high volume manufacturing. * Support ongoing improvement of test coverage, debug of customer returns, and migration of test coverage from system level to automated test equipment. * Work with silicon engineering, operations and software teams to define the requirements for system-level test of silicon products (e.g. functional coverage, speed testing, test time constraints, connectivity, etc.). System-level test should complement (not duplicate) testing done on automated test equipment (ATE). * Translate the system-level test/coverage requirements into practical tests that can be implemented using Cavium's software infrastructure. * Work with Operations team to implement, characterize, and deploy system-level test on a product-by-product basis. * Participate directly in 1st silicon bring-up of new chips so that system-level screening can be used to generate early samples. * As new product features are added (for example, coherent chip-to-chip interconnect), devise new system-level test methods to achieve efficient coverage * Work with Operations team to migrate coverage from system-level test to ATE for products where elimination of system-level test is required * Work with Operations and Customer Engineering teams to debug customer returns and address coverage holes * Sustain and improve system-level test for existing/legacy products as new software releases become available Requirements: * 6+ years related experience * Strong knowledge/experience with low-level CPU architecture * Strong knowledge/experience with diagnostic/test algorithms and methods for testing CPU components such as embedded memories, I/O interfaces, processor cores, etc. * Strong knowledge/experience on how to achieve high coverage using system-level functional testing. * Strong programming/scripting skills (C, Perl, etc.), and familiarity with Linux system administration and configuration. * Strong hands-on debug and problem solving skills to be able to root cause failures (for back-porting from system-level test to ATE, and for addressing escapes from system-level test). Preferred/Plus: * Understanding of automated test equipment (ATE) methods is a plus * Master's Degree a plus Other Skills: * Ability to interface internally and externally at all organizational levels. * Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment. * Self-driven individual who works with a minimum of supervision and is a good team player * Must have effective interpersonal and teamwork skills. * Excellent communication skills * Demonstrates good analysis and problem-solving skills. * Has an inherent sense of urgency and accountability.
