UCT is seeking a talented Lead, Assembly Technician to join our team in Austin, TX! The Lead produces components by assembling parts and subassemblies. Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists, gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build and test electromechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies for gas delivery systems.

  • Provides work direction and leadership for cleanroom assembly personnel.

  • Develops work schedules in conjunction with Manufacturing Manager.

  • Attends regularly scheduled production meetings and disseminates information from the meeting to cleanroom assembly personnel.

  • May provide staff training as required.

  • Attendance is an essential job function.

  • Works with 5s & visual controls.

  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Operates hand and power tools to complete assemblies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Ability to conduct on-the-job and skills training.

  • Good manual dexterity: ability to work with hand tools.

  • Basic computer literacy (MS Office Suite).

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • General knowledge of operating hand tools, portable power tools, and bench tools.

  • Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, and blueprints.

  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate to both internal and external contacts.

  • GD&T knowledge preferred.

  • Proficient in advanced assembly, general inspection, and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical systems.

  • Knowledge of cable routing, harness configuration, soldering, wiring, crimping standards.

  • Strong attention to detail; quality focused and a quick learner.

Educational/Certification Requirement:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.

  • Some technician coursework and/or AA technical degree or equivalent experience.

Work Experience:

  • 5+ years of related experience working in a cleanroom environment with previous leadership experience.

  • Experience in helium leak testing, module and sub-assembly testing, and inspection preferred.

  • Ability to lift to 25 lbs. and/or Ability to lift over 25 lbs. with assistance.

  • Ability to move arms, hands, and fingers.

  • Required to have visual acuity to perform assigned tasks.

  • Ability to stand / sit for sustained periods.

  • Ability to talk on phone and use computer for extended periods may be required.

Environmental Exposure:

  • Required to wear personal protective equipment where applicable.

  • Subject to noise levels.

  • Subject to hazards including electrical current, moving mechanical parts, exposure to chemicals and debris.

  • Subject to vibrations.

  • May involve exposure to moderate noise levels from printers, faxes, computer etc.
