Central Garden & Pet Company (NASDAQ: CENT and CENTA) is a leading innovator, marketer and producer of quality branded products for the pet and lawn and garden supplies markets.

Our Information Services Team is seeking a Lead Applications Developer to join our team based from our Bell Nursery business unit in Elkridge, MD. This position is part of a team responsible for back office design, maintenance, and support of the Company's various information and inventory systems. The developer will work closely with other members of the Bell Information Systems team on various development projects. Applications are primarily developed using MSSQL and C#. Applications touch a variety of business areas including reporting, analytics, inventory management, data exchange, logistics, and mobile device applications.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS

  • Design and Develop new and/or improve existing applications, systems and workflow

  • Collaborate with users, development team, and corporate CIS to achieve application objectives

  • Work with minimal supervision to address the business and data needs of the company

IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES

  • Bachelor's degree in a programming field or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated skills in MSSQL:

  • Able to create and query databases and tables

  • Able to create stored procedures, triggers, jobs, and other SQL functions

  • Demonstrated skills in an object-oriented language

  • Demonstrated skills in troubleshooting, analysis, and problem solving.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others

  • Minimum 10 years of applications development experience

  • Must be able to document workflow and overall architecture.

  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another technical field

  • MS Visual Studio proficiency

  • Inventory and/or warehousing experience

  • Share Point experience

  • Proficiency with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA for MS Excel, Access, Word)
