Responsibilities

Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting

relationships, other relationships:

Identify, develop, coordinate, implement, and conduct training programs

for System Operators, Section Operators, and operations support staff to

comply with NERC ERO PER-005. Determine training and orientation needs

for new department employees. Develop and conduct additional advanced

training for incumbent operations staff.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of

responsibilities):
1.Identifies, develops, implements and conducts advanced training for

operators responsible for the real-time operation of the interconnected

electric system. Coordinate and maintain training records for operations

staff, administer progression testing and appraise the work of trainees.
2.Organize and direct subject matter expert teams in developing and

evaluating new training programs that promote the safe, reliable, and

secure operation of the interconnected electric system.
3.Attend training sessions and represent NYSEG/RG&E on Training Task

Force. Attend utility organizations to

enhance knowledge of training techniques, methods, and topics.
4.Assist corporate training staff in revisions to company safety and

training manuals and development of progression training programs.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience

preferred. Associates Degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant

experience or High School/GED with the completion of the relevant

progression program and 10 years relevant experience required.

Over 10 years of direct work experience in the particular field

of expertise electric operations.

Extensive knowledge of training techniques, program development

and computer programming and applications.

Knowledge of industrial, technical or adult education, program

development and administration, engineering and/or construction

principles and techniques, economics, statistics, computer programming

and work management.

Certifications:

NERC Operator Certification or ability to obtain NERC Operator Certification

Skills/Abilities:

Excellent speaking, writing, interpersonal, administrative and

analytical skills desirable.

VIEW JOBS 8/10/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-11-08T00:00 Job Information POSITION - UNION: Section Operator (Vestal, NY) NUMBER OF POSITIONS- 1 LOCATION - NYSEG-NY-Binghamton ECC Responsibilities Under directive supervision coordinates the operation of Section facilities which may affect the electric and gas transmission and distribution systems. * Coordinates the outage of lines and equipment for testing, maintenance and repairs to assure continuity of service in cooperation with Area * Issues switching orders for de-energizing, grounding, tagging and re-energizing transmission, sub-transmission, distribution, substation and generating plant facilities. * Assures rigid observance of ""Operating Instructions for Switching and Tagging Procedures of Electric Lines and Equipment"", and standard procedures for gas operations. * Makes initial analysis of trouble in his Section and initiates action to minimize interruptions. * Operates and monitors supervisory controlled electric substations throughout the Section. * Monitors and maintains gas pressures at given locations within predetermined limits by means of supervisory control equipment. * Keeps logs of operations in his Section to supplement automatically recorded data. * Marks up system diagram boards to conform with current field conditions. * Dispatches crews for minor troubles during this period. Recognizes unusual conditions and situations and informs responsible Corporate, Area or District operating personnel. * Performs other related or less skilled work as required. Skills and Requirements * Must possess A.A.S. degree in Electrical Technology or practical experience and minimum technical knowledge as determined by an appropriate test. * Should have had 3 years' experience in electric operating or related functions. Operating Instructions for Switching and Tagging Procedures of: * Electric Lines and Equipment and standard procedures for gas operations. * Must be able to qualify for Automobile Operator's License, when required.
