About the Position:

The Lead Analyst, Portfolio & Commercial Management will assist managing our portfolio of growth products and services by evaluating how products make money and identifying ways to maximize profitability and customer value. The role reviews and analyses data and activities to provide relevant and up to date information to support decision-making and the effective working of National Grid. The role will contribute to generating $100M in new operating profit by collaborating with product owners and driving accountability and performance.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Develops new and revises existing business models for products and services. Research and analyse key themes from a wide range of data sources to identify how different scenarios may impact upon the business.

  • Balances product portfolio by utilizing market research data, business strategy, customer segmentation, to ensure profitability for National Grid.

  • Identifies and implements opportunities to streamline the product portfolio and bundle products together to maximize product penetration. Prepares relevant documentation in order that all stakeholders are fully informed. Ensures all evidence or statistics are documented.

  • Supports product owners by providing analysis on competitive environment, profitability drivers, regulatory funding mechanisms, product pricing, etc. Independently collate and analyse financial data within the Portfolio & Commercial Management area using pre-determined tools, methods and formats to support the department's decision-making process.

  • Maintain and provide information such as regulatory information to ensure regulators and other stakeholders are kept up to date with relevant National Grid policies, processes and programs. Understands and follows internal and external compliance requirements/standards and adjusts strategies as necessary.

  • Research and analyse key themes from a wide range of data sources to identify how different scenarios may impact upon the business. Reviews analysis from others and identify and resolve basic data issues.

  • Maximizes efficiency in constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are the norm.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

  • Manage key external relationships with respect to local unions and any data provided for business decision making

  • Develop and utilize peer group network to absorb and apply technical/professional best practice within own area of specialism.

Knowledge & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in a related area and 7 years of related experience. An advanced degree/credits is preferred.

  • Self-starter with the ability to collaborate with and influence a wide range of stakeholders at all levels of employees.

  • Strong product management and business analysis skills (e.g. profitability analysis) preferred

  • Strong experience building models preferred

  • Understands market specific implications of commercial strategies preferred

  • Extensive knowledge of energy regulatory laws a plus

  • Passion for delivering an exceptional customer experience.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products

Portfolio Analysis Group J.P. Morgan Asset Management's Portfolio Analysis Group ("PAG") is responsible for performance measurement and portfolio analytics for external clients. Analysis types and activities include, but are not limited to, rate of return calculations, return attribution, risk analytics, competitive analysis and composite construction. Key Responsibilities: * Working with the management team define overall transformation strategy, which will include reporting operating model, accountability model with businesses, business metrics, and knowledge management. * Oversee creation and maintenance of process maps, including documentation of current state processes, roles and responsibilities, metrics, key challenges and risks and initiatives under-way or in plan * Interact with business users, including senior managers, to understand key business processes and translate business requirements into technical solutions. * Partner with technology partners and SMEs to translate business requirements into approved test scripts.
