The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant's years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
What You Will Do
Responsible for the safe and effective operation and maintenance of the hyperbaric chamber and related systems and ancillary components. Participates in and is responsible for the daily operation of the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy team and patient care services. Scope of role includes: department/unit operational coordination of care; quality controls and improvements; regulatory compliance; set implementation of standards, procedures & policies, etc; evaluation of best use of resources; internal and external customer satisfaction; and professional development of staff. Applies the concepts derived from management and communication theory, group dynamics, counseling methodologies, and clinical judgment to ensure quality patient care and programs.
Required Qualifications
H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
3 Years Hyperbaric experience
Experience operating Multiplace chambers.
Experience as a Safety/Technical Director.
AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
Leadership experience.

Essential Functions
Patient Care: Provides patient care within scope of practice as directed.
Chamber Attendant: Attends to patients' needs and safety inside the hyperbaric chamber.
Chamber Operations: Operates and maintains the hyperbaric chamber and related equipment in a safe and knowledgeable manner.
Information Management: Maintains patient records, chamber logs and HBOT patient database
Ensures department compliance with NFPA 99, Health Care Facilities, Chapter 20, and Hyperbaric Facilities and with unit safety policies and Procedures.
Reviews all department safety incidents, collects information regarding equipment/patient safety, reports relevant incidents to the staff, and periodically provides in-service training on accident prevention.
Works closely with the medical, nursing, and staff to develop and annually review/revise department policies and procedures and operational and maintenance documents.
Fosters a positive relationship between the department and local Fire Marshall, Emergency Medical Services Director, and Pressure Vessel Inspector, as appropriate.
Works closely with the Manager/Director to coordinate and approve all hyperbaric chamber upgrades, modifications, and repairs to the hyperbaric system, including interaction with hospital maintenance personnel and outside contractors, to ensure that all maintenance activities are done in accordance with appropriate safety standards. Ensures that the testing of all modifications is performed before manned pressurization.
Evaluates hyperbaric chamber equipment/supplies used in the chamber and ensures that they meet all safety requirements before they are permitted inside the chamber.
Maintains a safe environment in the hyperbaric facility for patients and staff and uses approved and recognized decompression procedures for all persons with a hyperbaric exposure to inert gases.
Informs personnel of any special work conditions such as infection control, hazard control, and confined spaces.
Serves as one of the hyperbaric facility technical trainers for full- or part-time staff and provides in-service training related to the various aspects of hyperbaric physiology, decompression requirements, equipment operations, safety, and treatment protocols.
Validates in-chamber safety training of new staff before their initial entry into the hyperbaric chamber.
Generates and supervises hyperbaric chamber safety drills which are tailored to improve staff response to emergency situations.
Conducts annual review of safety related events to identify trends and monitor improvements.
Serves as the hyperbaric facility senior technical representative and insures that technical personnel comply with published preventive maintenance schedules.
Develops and reviews department policy and procedure and revises operational maintenance manuals annually.
Develops and maintains monthly reports of hyperbaric chamber system maintenance activities and submits it to the Medical Director.
Supervises all hyperbaric technologists to ensure the safe and effective operation of all hyperbaric chambers and related equipment.
Coordinates and approves all upgrades, modifications, and repairs to the hyperbaric chamber system, including the interaction with hospital maintenance personnel and outside contractors, as appropriate.
Maintains knowledge of all hyperbaric chamber systems and related components.
Maintains operating and maintenance logs and other required documentation in accordance with hyperbaric facility policy and regulatory requirements.
Participates in quality improvement unit activities based on unit focus/priorities.
Assists with identifying clinical learning needs of staff and assures learning achieved.
Implements systems to inform/monitor staff compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Collaborates with other disciplines/departments to resolve daily operational issues when supervising unit.
Facilitates staff in prioritizing and problem solving daily operational issues.
Collaborates with Physicians to address operational issues.
Demonstrates resolution of operational issue with targeted outcomes as negotiated with manager or director.
All 90 day and annual performance reviews are completed within 30 days of due date.
Assures employee files are current and complete including annual PPD, CPR, RN licensure, safety test, etc.
Orients/mentors staff into new roles resulting in achieved competencies within identified timelines.
Assists staff to resolve identified learning/performance issues.
Achieves productivity score between 98-100%
Monitors flexing, on-call, skill mix, use of overtime, per diem and registry.
Identifies and/or participates in implementation of cost reducing or revenue enhancing ideas.
Contributes to utilization of supplies in a cost-effective manner that supports delivery of care within budgeted supply expense per unit of service.
Facilitates Workman's Compensation reporting and documentation per requirements.
Demonstrates ability to handle situations not covered by written or verbal instructions that maintain staff/patient safety.
Conveys importance and rational of policies & procedures and standards of care to staff and customers.
Performs one or more of the following:
Demonstrates resolution of safety issue as negotiated with manager or director.
Trends staff safety learning needs and assures learning achieved.
Develops new area of expertise relevant to delivery of safe patient care.
