LCSW -Cognitive Behavior Therapy

The Outpatient LCSW works with a population from Pedi to Geriatric anxiety and behavior by examining confused or distorted patterns of thinking who have a debilitating disease such as Parkinson s, Movement Disorders, Muscular Dystrophy and ALS

Provide therapy to promote both quality of life and well being in the experience of neuromuscular disease patients, and review the effectiveness of these interventions are identified.

The therapists will teach individuals about thoughts that may cause feelings and moods which can influence behavior.

Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, to assess the needs of patients and their family/caregivers when appropriate, and arranges, coordinates, and advocates for services to meet the members physical and psychosocial needs.

Perform assessments, and some psychotherapy sessions.

Provide ongoing education to patients and families as necessary.

Required skills:

Current licensure by the State of Connecticut as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) from an accredited graduate school of social work.

Competence in meeting the needs of patients who require treatment for chronic disease, complex medical issues and/or rehab therapies.

Three year clinical experience in a medical setting as an LCSW preferably with Neuromuscular disorders.

Must be proficient using EMR for patient documentation.

This position is responsible for the daily medical care of any sick animals in the shelter or medical area including by not limited to: performing health checks, immunizing, provision of daily medicines, deworming, flea and tick treatment, medical observation, provision of adequate food and water, kennel cleaning, walking, monitoring animals and reporting health or behavior abnormalities, socializing animals and creating and maintaining necessary animal records, performing data entry. Perform animal bathing and basic grooming. Assist with animal intake, evaluation, and treatment. They will also assist our veterinary technicians with prep for all surgical procedures, monitoring patients during prep and surgery, administering fluids, assist with x-ray, provide support therapy to patients in surgery and post-op, and remove and ready the next patient.
