Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Assist in the leadership of the Program Management Team within Logistics and Clinical Supply (LCS).

  • Responsible for multiple Program Management projects for assigned clinical programs and manages supply strategy, developing, forecasting and executing production plan for each asset in order to meet customer demands in a manner that is compliant with standards and regulations, minimizes costs and maximizes quality.

  • Oversees multiple small teams of multi-functional professionals (Supply Continuity Team - SCT) and supports it in delivering the supply chain strategy whilst maintaining good alignment with the clinical development plan and overall program goals.

  • Propose and drive change initiatives by identifying opportunities for improving the effectiveness of the supply strategy and leading teams. May include both SCT-initiated changes and supporting those developed by more senior staff.

  • Supports development of budgets and resource plans for area of responsibility and escalates as required to ensure function is capable of meeting its objectives.

  • Manages, mentors, coaches, and trains team members from both LCS and cross-functionally to ensure highly effective team working to support supply delivery.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Requires a degree level education (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline

  • Will have expert knowledge of supply chain management techniques

  • Will also have some experience of leading and managing projects and will be required to provide specialist input to larger business projects. Also has the ability to re-engineer processes

Within the Clinical Pharmacology and Safety Sciences function, we have a state-of-the-art quantitative clinical pharmacology group with a diverse and uniquely skilled team of clinical pharmacometricians and clinical pharmacology scientists. What you will do: You will work closely with clinical pharmacometricians, physicians and other scientists, and apply your expertise and leadership skills to contribute to the strategy of the clinical program and the design and interpretation of clinical studies. You will influence key decisions in early and late phases of clinical development. In collaboration with clinical pharmacometricians, you will represent Clinical Pharmacology and Quantitative Pharmacology in cross-functional project teams, and take responsibility for developing the clinical pharmacology strategy. The work includes integration of relevant data, such as dose information, pharmacokinetics, biomarkers and clinical endpoints within and across studies, compounds and development stages. You will take part in identifying opportunities to apply model informed drug development to accelerate and inform decision making. You will communicate your findings within and outside of AstraZeneca and publish in peer reviewed journals. Essential in the role: * PhD or equivalent (M.Sc/Pharm.D.) level expertise in a relevant field. * 3 years + industry experience or equivalent in pharmacokinetics and clinical pharmacology aspects of drug development * Experience of writing and reviewing clinical trial protocols and reports and regulatory documents such as INDs, IBs, NDAs or BLAs. * Knowledge of pharmacokinetics, its clinical application and regulatory context. * Knowledge and experience in use of PK and PKPD modeling applied to life sciences. * Biological understanding of disease and drug action. Desirable in the role: * Track record in creating and delivering on clinical pharmacology strategies of both small and large molecules. * Recognised clinical pharmacology expertise demonstrated by scientific publishing in the field of clinical pharmacology. * Early and late phase clinical development experience.
