GENERAL SUMMARY The Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) works within a multidisciplinary team to provide direct (face-to-face) and indirect services to consumers in a person-centered, trauma informed, and individualized approach utilizing evidence-based practices delivered to fidelity. The LCDC completes collaborative documentation with the client in accordance with State and agency program policies.

Individuals served may have multi-system involvement such as Criminal Justice, Child and Adult Welfare, Veterans, Residential instability, etc. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. Develops treatment plans, including measurable goals and objectives, and completes review for progress. Facilitates psycho-education classes, group therapy, support groups, and individual counseling.

Inputs clinical documentation into Clinical Management for Behavioral Health Services (CMBHS) in a timely manner for all services rendered with or on behalf of clients. Links and refers consumers presenting to clinic to appropriate services.

Performs biopsychosocial intakes and assessments, and explores diagnoses with course of treatment.

Screens for substance abuse, including physical and mental health status. Performs other related duties as required. Specific Program Descriptions:

DETOX: The Residential Detoxification Unit (Detox) is a licensed, accredited 28-bed facility offering medical oversight and recovery support for people withdrawing from addictive substances. Residencies are typically 3-7 days but will vary depending on an individual client's symptoms. Detox aims to help residents complete a safe withdrawal from substance use, encourage continual substance use treatment, and motivate and empower clients to develop a healthy recovery lifestyle.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Associate's Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, or a related field from an accredited university or, High School diploma and 2 years of related experience or, High School diploma and a current Texas licensure as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) in good standing. One (1) year of experience working with consumers diagnosed with substance abuse, mental health, or dual diagnosis. Licenses or Certifications Current Texas licensure as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) in good standing Other Requirements Must maintain a valid driver's license and automobile insurance coverage, be able to travel as needed, and be able to meet on a consistent basis the driving record requirements of the Company's auto insurance carrier if you drive your vehicle during company business.

Must maintain required credentials and mandatory training requirements to ensure compliance with all State regulations and CHCS policies. Must be able to meet the physical requirements to complete Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) and CPR training including lifting up to 12 lbs. and supporting up to 55 lbs.; bending, stooping and getting on and off the floor without assistance. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) is a proven safe and harm-free method of behavior modification.

All consumer-facing employees of CHCS must take NCI courses facilitated by the CHCS Training team within the first 45 days of employment. NCI is intended to support human service professionals in giving aggressive, disruptive, or out-of-control people the best care and welfare possible, even in the most violent situation. NCI training provides staff with the skills to safely recognize and respond to everyday crisis situations that may involve more challenging behaviors.

It focuses on prevention and offers proven strategies for safely defusing anxious, hostile or violent behavior at the earliest possible stage. Depending on assigned unit/program, applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following may result in being disqualified for this position:

Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A & B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and Family Violence Convictions. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in a behavioral science. Minimum of one (1) year of full-time work experience in the social services or substance abuse services.

Professional experience working with consumers diagnosed with substance abuse and/or co-occurring disorders. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Language Proficiency Pay (LPP) payments are subject to successful testing, certification by CHCS Payroll, and availability of funding.

Funding may be renewed in subsequent fiscal years but is not guaranteed. SUPERVISION Job has no responsibility for the direction or supervision of others. COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES Knowledge of:

Applicable software applications. Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder (DSM) diagnoses and Clinical terminology. HIPAA regulations and Accepted principles of client record management.

Local community resources. Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment. Programs and services in areas of assignment.

Substance use disorders and awareness/familiarity of Mental health disorders. Skill in: Active listening methods.

Counseling techniques, theories, and interventions. Crisis intervention/Conflict resolution. Effective group facilitation and management.

Organization and time management. Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature. Performing basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and ratios.

Ability to: Accurately organize and maintain paper documents and electronic files. Effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships. Formulate and modify treatment plans, as necessary. Gather information and collect data and accurately document clinical observations.

Lead therapeutic groups. Maintain accurate and complete records. Maintain the confidentiality of information and professional boundaries.

Meet schedules and deadlines of the work. Prepare clear and accurate reports. Translate assessment information into measurable treatment goals and outcome statements.

Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
