DESCRIPTION

Department Overview

Children's legal services department provides comprehensive legal services across the organization. Services

include contract assistance, compliance with state and federal laws, employment matters, government investigations,

intellectual property, subpoenas/requests for testimony, and many other issues.

Position Summary

Children's legal services department is seeking an intern who is a current law student. This role will learn about

real-life legal practice by supporting the Legal department and leaders of Children's. The intern's responsibilities

will include drafting and reviewing various legal documents and performing legal research and analysis suited to a

project's particular audience. The Intern shall perform all tasks under the educational oversight of a licensed attorney supervisor. The subject matter will include a wide variety of health law and general in-house practice areas

such as healthcare fraud and abuse and privacy laws, tax-exemption considerations, clinical research, hospital policy

compliance, etc. This remote position with opportunities for shadowing opportunities will be provided and tailored

to the extern's interests with the goal of exposing him or her to the work and dynamics of a fast-paced in-house

environment.

This unpaid remote internship may begin in May or June, 2024 for approximately ten to twelve weeks.

Housing is not provided and travel costs are the responsibility of the candidate. The office is located at

Children's Business Campus 5901 Lincoln Drive, Edina, Minnesota.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A rising Fall 2024 2L or 3L law student

  • A self-starter who enjoys working in a team environment

  • An interest in health law and compliance

  • The ideal candidate should have outstanding research and writing skills along with effective verbal

communication skills

  • Extremely conscious of meeting deadlines

  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and online legal research

The posted pay range represents rates for a grouping of multiple jobs within a salary grade. We carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Children's Minnesota.

All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of an occupational health assessment, drug screen, background investigation, and compliance with the U.S. Government Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification.
