The duty station for this position is in King County, therefore the incumbent will receive 5%
premium pay in addition to the salary listed above.
The Opportunity:
The Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission is seeking a dynamic leader to train recruit peace officers. This position serves as a Law Enforcement Trainer focused on Integrated Arrest Tactics. The incumbent will serve as a lead for other contract instructors, provides classroom and hands on instruction, as well as collaboration with curriculum developers to ensure courses are being taught consistently. The incumbent of this position requires someone who is an excellent trainer, strong in character, and demonstrates excellent moral and ethical conduct.

Instruct Integrated Arrest Tactics (IAT) classes for Basic Law Enforcement Academy (BLEA) and Advanced Training classes
Schedule instructors for IAT classes.
Assist in IAT curriculum development and updates.
Conduct student evaluations and provide learning plans as needed.
Coordinate with Quartermaster to fulfill orders and maintain supplies.
Monitor all contracts for BLEA and Advanced IAT instructors.
Oversee testing of BLEA recruits and Advanced IAT students.
Required Qualifications:
Understanding of adult teaching and learning methods.
No sustained use of force complaints for the past three years.
Any community complaints within the last three years must be satisfactorily explained.
Able to model the Guardian Philosophy of policing in class on a daily basis.
Quality problem solving skills including analysis and strategy.
Strong work ethic, self-directed, and able to work in a team teaching environment.
Ability to support the agency's diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.
Effective communicator.
Desired Qualifications:
Understanding of and/or experience with WSCJTC protocols and chain of command.
Recent experience with Basic Law Enforcement Academy training.
Two years' experience in implementing training programs, including hands-on training, specific to law enforcement and/or corrections personnel (FTO/PTO experience meets this requirement).
First level supervisor experience (examples: sergeant, supervisor, manager).
WSCJTC Instructor Development
Skills for basic computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
Public relations experience.
Knowledge of Washington State purchase and procurements procedures.
Wrestling, mixed martial arts, and/or Brazilian Jui Jitsu.
Conditions of Employment:
Must be able to pass the physical ability test for DT instructor course #2076.
