Compensation: $28,308.80 - $39,852.80/annually PLUS $ .30 to .50/hour Shift Differential and a 10% pay differential for offender supervision.

Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: The Laundry Supervisor is responsible for supervising and training the 20 offenders assigned to the ECF Laundry Detail. Training includes proper operation of laundry equipment and use of chemicals, soaps, and cleaners, as well as proper machine loads and temperatures. The Laundry Detail is responsible for laundering of all articles of clothing, towels, linen, and bedding for the 832 inmates housed at the ECF Central Unit. The Laundry Supervisor also assists with the ordering, receiving, and warehousing of all supplies and materials needed to ensure an effective and efficient laundry operation.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Minimum Qualifications: Six months of experience in laundry work involving the operation of commercial scale laundry equipment.

Preferred Skills: Knowledge of occupational hazards in an institutional laundry and of necessary safety precautions. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of supervision. Knowledge of the principles of inventory control. Knowledge of approved methods and practices of laundering linens, uniforms, and other institutional laundry, as well as new techniques or experimental formulas. Knowledge of the procedures and policies involved in the efficient management of an institutional laundry. Knowledge of various textiles and types of laundry used by institutions, including the most appropriate laundering methods and techniques. Ability to work while standing and under conditions of high temperature and humidity. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates. Ability to keep records and prepare reports. Ability to effectively express ideas orally. Ability to organize and clearly express information in concise written form. Ability to assign, direct, supervise, and evaluate the work of subordinates and to train and instruct employees. Ability to maintain and organize filing and record keeping systems. Ability to observe and analyze problems in laundry production and to implement changes where necessary to improve efficiency of working conditions. Ability to prepare reports of laundry operations, based on the interpretation of detailed records. Ability to schedule laundry production to provide a smooth and continuous flow of work through all operations. Ability to operate institutional laundry machines and equipment.

Performance Standards: The incumbent must be capable of performing established Essential Physical Functions. An initial six-month probationary period is required for a new or promoted employee.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in supervising or managing an institutional laundry operation.

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements: Must pass pre-employment drug test.
