SUMMARY:

The Truck Driver/Laundry Operator may be required to perform any or all duties related to the processing of linen and its delivery. This position reports to the Laundry Supervisor or Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Non-Supervisory Duties:

  • Pick up soiled linen from nursing units and deliver to laundry.

  • Pick up soiled personal linen for patients and deliver to patient laundry.

  • Pack and distribute clean linen to nursing units.

  • Perform routine maintenance on trucks.

  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor or manager.

  • Perform general housekeeping in the laundry, trucks and soiled linen areas.

  • Knowledge:

  • Must know how to operate laundry equipment.

  • Must know the operation of truck and equipment.

  • Must be familiar with the location of all nursing units.

  • Skills and Dexterity:

  • Good driving and safety habits

  • Education:

  • Ability to read and write

  • Experience:

  • Experience in driving large trucks

  • Physical Activity (complies with Infection Control Policy and Procedures)

  • Heavy lifting, routinely lifting 30-60 pounds, i.e., transfer of laundry to machines, to carts, to units, etc.

  • Ability to stand for 6-8 hour shifts

  • Driving of large truck along with getting in and out of truck frequently

  • Pushing carts to nursing units. Involves much walking pushing carts weighing 250 pounds to 1,000 pounds loaded.

  • Working Conditions:

  • Working temperature conditions varies according to the season.

  • Unpleasant odor and contact with soiled linen.

  • Work environment is indoor and outdoor

  • Hazards and Risk:

  • Minimal risk following standards, safety equipment

  • Personality and Relationships with Others

  • Must get along with public, all other employees and inmates.

  • Complies with HIPPA regulations.

  • Personal Traits:

  • Must be dependable, neat, and clean.

  • Must have a Driver's License

  • Assuring Resident Safety

Job Title: Truck Driver Class A Job Summary: The Truck/Yard Driver has the responsibility of safely moving trailers between all Chattanooga facilities. This position will work directly with various departments; including the Production and Warehouses. Also, have the ability to make decisions and adapt to a changing work environment. This position reports directly to the Warehouse Supervisor. Essential Functions: * Maintain a high safety environment, at all times, while performing daily task * Accountable to secure each trailer by use of wheel chocks * Maintain tractor fuel and def. fluid, as require. * Confirm each load has proper documentation, prior to leaving the facility. * Ensure empty trailers are deposited at all facilities for various process Including, empties, pallets, pool trailers, etc. * Responsible to complete and retain trailer/tractor sheet along with housekeeping duties, according to WNA policy. * Instructions/tasks as directed by direct Warehouse Supervisor and/or Distribution Manager. Marginal Functions: * Load/unload trailers of product safely and efficiently. * Operate forklift, as needed. * Fill in during periods of absents by coworkers for continued driver coverage. * Assist in training and develop of new employees Competencies Required / Preferred: Job Knowledge and Education * High School Diploma or equivalent is required. * Valid CDL and all additional requirements required by WNA. * Must have ZERO traffic violation, including but not limited to, DWI/DUI, reckless driving, etc., is required. * 5 years of driving /shuttle experience delivering to multiple facilities, is required. * 2 years of documentation such as; driver log / safety log experience, is required. * Logistics, operations and/or industrial experience, is preferred. Physical / Mental Requirements: * Ability to use effective communication with designate employees amongst, multiple facilities and departments to maintain the flow of product(s) in a timely manner. * Multitask and display time management according to the WNA policy * Analytical and conceptual thinking – using logic and reason, creative and strategic * Demonstrate a professional attitude and the ability to work in a team * Work in an environment with periods of frequent bending, walking, sitting, pulling and/or lifting, as needed. * Ability to safely drive/work in various types of weather.
