General Purpose

Assist in the laundering and delivery of linens, resident clothing, and other items as needed, in accordance with facility and department policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions

  • Pick up soiled laundry from chute and other designated areas and properly sort.

  • Adds pre-soak, soap and other solutions, as needed, to laundry.

  • Place garments and linens in washers and dryers and select correct operating procedure.

  • Hang, fold, slacks and repair garments and linens as appropriate. No alterations.

  • Distribute clothes and linens and briefs to the correct rooms and closets.

  • Identify and mark resident items to assist in correct distribution.

  • Report any garment and linens in ill repair to supervisor.

  • Identify and report any malfunctions in equipment.

  • Prevent the spread of infection by proper handling, storing, washing and transporting garments and linens.

  • Perform work in an inside environment with normal temperatures and adequate lighting, where possible exposure to infectious diseases, blood borne pathogens and unpleasant sights and smells may be present.

  • Must be adaptable, flexible to changes, and able to prioritize and organize work efficiently to accomplish workload within time allotted.

  • Maintain a positive attitude in relation to customer service program.

  • Complies with established safety rules and regulations.

  • Promptly reports accidents, incidents, and unsafe and hazardous conditions/equipment to supervisor.

  • Understands, complies with, and promotes all rules regarding resident's rights.

  • Abides by the facility's policies, procedures and practices.

  • Participates in and supports Quality efforts throughout the facility.

  • Attends meetings and mandatory in-services.

  • Knowledge and adherence to safety/disaster preparedness plan.

  • All other duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

  • Must have the ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.

  • Experience in a long-term care facility or acute care center is preferred.

  • Knowledge of or ability to learn position procedures, techniques and equipment.

  • Must be able to relate professionally, positively, and cooperatively with residents, resident's families and employees.

  • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.

  • Must meet all local health regulations and pass post-employment physical exam if required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal background investigation, and reference inquiry.

  • Must be capable of performing the Essential Job Functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Cook Summary: Assures that resident meals and other nourishments are prepared, cooked, and apportioned according to authorized menus and individual care plans, and are served according to established schedules and procedures. Dietary Aide Summary: Assists in the preparing and serving meals, snacks and beverages throughout the facility. Responsible for performing various duties in and around the kitchen, including preparation of various portions of meals, presentations and disposal of food, including appropriately reporting changes in consumption and/or behaviors. Responsible for sanitary condition of tableware and working area, delivering and collecting food in and around residents' rooms and delivering soiled linens to laundry. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Prepares or directs the preparation of food items which are palatable and appetizing in appearance. * Cooks adhere to written recipes, menus, and individual diet orders. * Prepares food items, special diets, snacks and nourishments according to establish schedules and meal times. * Labels and/or otherwise identifies meals, special diets, and nourishments with resident name, room number, or other identifier, to assure that each resident receives food in accordance with care plan, physician's orders, and resident preference. * Avoids waste of food items and dietary supplies. * Maintains sanitation and cleanliness of all kitchen equipment, utensils, counters, preparation and storage areas according to established schedules, facility and departmental policies for routine cleaning. * Labels, dates, and appropriately stores food items and leftovers immediately after use. * Assists in establishing and maintaining a perpetual inventory of food and supplies, immediately correcting any discrepancies or shortages. * Maintains strict compliance with established policies, practices, and standards regarding food preparation and storage. * Logs and records temperatures of food storage and refrigeration equipment as requested. * Assists in the orientation and on-the-job training of newly hired dietary staff members. * Actively participates in QAPI (Quality Assurance Process Improvement) program, taking a proactive approach to quality care and services on a continuous basis with engagement of residents, family members and staff. * Sets high standards of excellence for meeting resident needs, builds and maintains relationships with residents, communicates with residents in a genuine manner using appropriate verbiage, and establishes good rapport with the residents. * Has fun in creating a positive, collaborative, team oriented atmosphere for residents and colleagues in conjunction with our core values. * Follows instructions, completing daily assignments as assigned and is proactive to change.
