Assist in the laundering and delivery of linens, resident clothing, and other items as needed, in accordance with facility and department policies and procedures.
Essential Job Functions
Pick up soiled laundry from chute and other designated areas and properly sort.
Adds pre-soak, soap and other solutions, as needed, to laundry.
Place garments and linens in washers and dryers and select correct operating procedure.
Hang, fold, slacks and repair garments and linens as appropriate. No alterations.
Distribute clothes and linens and briefs to the correct rooms and closets.
Identify and mark resident items to assist in correct distribution.
Report any garment and linens in ill repair to supervisor.
Identify and report any malfunctions in equipment.
Prevent the spread of infection by proper handling, storing, washing and transporting garments and linens.
Perform work in an inside environment with normal temperatures and adequate lighting, where possible exposure to infectious diseases, blood borne pathogens and unpleasant sights and smells may be present.
Must be adaptable, flexible to changes, and able to prioritize and organize work efficiently to accomplish workload within time allotted.
Maintain a positive attitude in relation to customer service program.
Complies with established safety rules and regulations.
Promptly reports accidents, incidents, and unsafe and hazardous conditions/equipment to supervisor.
Understands, complies with, and promotes all rules regarding resident's rights.
Abides by the facility's policies, procedures and practices.
Participates in and supports Quality efforts throughout the facility.
Attends meetings and mandatory in-services.
Knowledge and adherence to safety/disaster preparedness plan.
All other duties as needed.
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Must have the ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
Experience in a long-term care facility or acute care center is preferred.
Knowledge of or ability to learn position procedures, techniques and equipment.
Must be able to relate professionally, positively, and cooperatively with residents, resident's families and employees.
Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
Must meet all local health regulations and pass post-employment physical exam if required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal background investigation, and reference inquiry.
