The Launch Security Operations Specialist (LSOS) provides overall security operations support for all Launch-related activities, to include SV transportation and processing, SV/LV integration, launch base operations, monitoring and operation of security and payload processing facility systems, and general security requirements and implementation. LSOS may require specialized training. LSOS should possess experience related to:

  • Launch range operations and scheduling

  • Launch Program Security

  • Access Control Systems

  • Life Safety and Mass Notification Systems

  • Alarm and event notification processes

  • Personnel security and Visitor Control processes (background investigations, badging, security escorting)

  • Information systems security

  • Anti-terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) measures; mail screening systems and processes

  • Government property accountability

  • Emergency Management

Administers and coordinates the facility security activities for an office or group.
1.Administers and coordinates the DoD security program and other related security activities for a large office or group to ensure compliance with government regulations and company policies and procedures.
2.Provides guidance to managers and employees regarding security regulations and procedures.
3.Participates in the development and implementation of security procedures in coordination with government agencies and company management.
4.Conducts security briefings.
5.Develops and conducts security-related training programs.
6.Investigates security violations and recommends corrective actions.
7.Maintains liaison with outside agencies.
8.Assists employees in acquiring personal security clearance when required.
9.May enter security information into automated system and develop related reports as needed.
10. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced security staff.
11. Participates in special projects as required.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related business discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training or work experience.

Qualifications:
5-8 years of related experience in facility or industrial security administration, preferably in the government contracting industry

This position is a mid-level specialist who possesses a working knowledge of launch operations, SV transportation, payload processing facility systems, and security operations with only general supervision.

Candidates need to possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • Working understanding of launch operations, computer-based security, life safety and payload processing facility controls systems

  • Working understanding of alarm/event notification processes, communication, and documentation

  • Working understanding of launch security operations, visitor control processes, AT/FP measures, Government property accountability, and emergency response functions

Active in-scope TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

VIEW JOBS 11/17/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-15T00:00 Position requires an active in-scope TS/SCI clearance and polygraph. * Review, document, and trace functional and interface requirements for all allocated missions and coordinates with external entities when necessary to resolve issues. * Review verification and validation processes and activities and identify risks, opportunities, and corresponding mitigation or implementation milestones. * Coordinate among divisions to identify and coordinate new requirements, capture emerging risks and recommend plans of action consistent with strategic goals. * Retain cognizance over all launch related studies and provide leadership with timely and relevant assessments. * Maintain familiarity with the customer strategic roadmap and updates to US space policy. * Provide day-to-day support to assure routine actions and briefings are addressed. Provide recommendations/products that reflect best path for the customer based on extensive launch experience. * New Entrants assessment support non-recurring certification and framework of tasks needed for recurring mission certification. * Verify that recommended acquisition approaches are executable within the OSL resource constraints, mission integration risks are identified and mitigated to low risk level. * Act as Director's reach back capability to aid his decision making process. * Resolving fleet issues * Assess new entrant's capabilities and processes * Develop acquisition strategies to procure launch services (EELV and non-EELV systems) * Develop acquisition documents * Evaluate mission specification requirements * Assess adequacy of verification data/actions * Identify elevated mission risks areas and develop mitigation approaches. * Conduct Interface Compatibility Assessment * Develop and maintain process documentation * Interface with customer to ensure compliance with corporate policy and procedures * Support the Launch Readiness Process * Interface with key mission personnel from mission partners including launch vehicle contractors, satellite contractors, AF Program Offices, NASA and other mission stakeholder groups * Provide support L in preparing for and conducting all required meetings, briefings, reviews, and readiness assessments * Maintain working knowledge of launch base infrastructure, including communications networks, fiber and conveyance systems * Identify and scope facility and communications requirements for new missions and/or capabilities, along with recommended solutions * Support evaluating, certifying, and fostering relationships with emerging launch vehicle companies * Assess strategic impacts of proposed launch vehicle fleet changes * Develop briefings for customer to present to leadership and external organizations * Support annual budget planning and execution reviews * Support technical and programmatic meetings * Participates in special projects as required. Education: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
