The Launch Security Operations Specialist (LSOS) provides overall security operations support for all Launch-related activities, to include SV transportation and processing, SV/LV integration, launch base operations, monitoring and operation of security and payload processing facility systems, and general security requirements and implementation. LSOS may require specialized training. LSOS should possess experience related to:

  • Launch range operations and scheduling

  • Launch Program Security

  • Access Control Systems

  • Life Safety and Mass Notification Systems

  • Alarm and event notification processes

  • Personnel security and Visitor Control processes (background investigations, badging, security escorting)

  • Information systems security

  • Anti-terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) measures; mail screening systems and processes

  • Government property accountability

  • Emergency Management

Administers and coordinates the facility security activities for an office or group.
1.Administers and coordinates the DoD security program and other related security activities for a large office or group to ensure compliance with government regulations and company policies and procedures.
2.Provides guidance to managers and employees regarding security regulations and procedures.
3.Participates in the development and implementation of security procedures in coordination with government agencies and company management.
4.Conducts security briefings.
5.Develops and conducts security-related training programs.
6.Investigates security violations and recommends corrective actions.
7.Maintains liaison with outside agencies.
8.Assists employees in acquiring personal security clearance when required.
9.May enter security information into automated system and develop related reports as needed.
10. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced security staff.
11. Participates in special projects as required.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related business discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training or work experience.

Qualifications:
5-8 years of related experience in facility or industrial security administration, preferably in the government contracting industry

This position is a mid-level specialist who possesses a working knowledge of launch operations, SV transportation, payload processing facility systems, and security operations with only general supervision.

Candidates need to possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • Working understanding of launch operations, computer-based security, life safety and payload processing facility controls systems

  • Working understanding of alarm/event notification processes, communication, and documentation

  • Working understanding of launch security operations, visitor control processes, AT/FP measures, Government property accountability, and emergency response functions

Active in-scope TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

Certifications Required: Minimum Security + TS/SCI with Polygraph required * Manage all configuration and engineering documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness. Documentation includes facility maps, site floor plans, rack elevations, patch panel, equipment shelf layouts, system overviews, circuit drawings. * Develop and maintain comprehensive web site pages arranged so that technicians can intuitively navigate to find desired information. * Maintain configuration management database information to ensure accurate records for all systems and circuits maintained. * Provide planning and engineering of communications requirements for the installation of new systems and facilities. * Ensure accuracy and timeliness of engineering documentation for all equipment / system installations and upgrades. Work closely with technicians to ensure they thoroughly understand the plans and documentation. * Work with satellite and launch vehicle customers to define their communications requirements, engineer solutions, and develop supporting documentation. Assist technicians to ensure readiness of systems to support launch activities.
