Position Overview:

Lake Area Technical College is seeking a highly qualified Law Enforcement Instructor to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of law enforcement, both in its legal and practical aspects, along with a strong commitment to educating and mentoring young adults. The candidate will be responsible for curriculum development, instruction, and ensuring program standards align with industry requirements.

Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge of Law Enforcement, to include in legal, technical, and practical aspects of law enforcement.

A minimum of three years related employment experience with a related A.A.S degree is required.

Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

Strong classroom skills, including experience with curriculum development.

Computer literate. Excellent people skills, and desire and ability to work with young adults and other coworkers.

Preference for certification in one or more of the following: Firearms Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Accident Investigation, or EVOC Instructor, or be willing to become certified before the start of the upcoming school year.

Reports to: Law Enforcement Department Supervisor, Dean of Academics

Performance Responsibilities:

Curriculum development of these subjects, using innovative technology.

Approved safety procedures to maintain safety and security of all citizens.

Correct and safe use of all applicable weapons required for this program.

Critical communication and leadership skills.

Knowledge of the legal system and current legislation.

Safe, ethical, and legal field practice techniques.

Professionalism and related soft skills, including communicating with peers, supervisors, and community members.

The Law Enforcement Code of Ethics & Conduct.

How the legal and criminal justice systems work in tandem with local, state, and federal government agencies.

Instruction in all related theory and practical skills required. Ensure program meets standards required for student to achieve required certification and program to achieve required accreditations. Ensure students meet the requirements of drug testing, background checks, and agility fitness tests.

Work in partnership with other faculty members to maintain an effective teaching team. Assist with student recruitment and promotion.

Maintain a safe laboratory and classroom environment.

Work in conjunction with local, regional, and state organizations to ensure top quality curriculum and program through an actively engaged advisory board.

Work with local, regional, and state organizations in establishing and conducting onsite internships and required ride along opportunities for students.

Maintain inventory and equipment, including all related documentation.

Other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

190-day contract with salary and benefits set by the Watertown School Board.
