Job Description:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct classroom and online instruction for courses in agriculture, with a focus on production agriculture.

Course assignments may include subjects such as engines, farm construction, basic electrical wiring, machinery maintenance, ag safety, ag chemical equipment, agronomy, etc.

Lead curriculum development for assigned subjects, integrating innovative technology where possible.

Teach and enforce safety procedures in both classroom and laboratory settings.

Conduct assessments for courses, programs, and institutional accreditation activities.

Collaborate with fellow faculty members to maintain an effective teaching team.

Coordinate on-the-job training sites for students, including arrangement and scheduling.

Work closely with the Agriculture Advisory Board and cultivate industry relationships.

Maintain inventory and equipment, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date.

Provide academic advising to students, offering guidance on progress, registration, and other relevant issues.

Assist with student recruitment, promotion, and career education activities for the department and college.

Represent the department at professional organizations and community events.

Perform other duties as assigned.

REPORTS TO: Department Supervisor, Dean of Academics, Vice President

QUALIFICATIONS:

Extensive knowledge of the agricultural industry with a minimum of three years' experience in an agricultural field.

Associate's degree in agriculture or related field required.

Specialization in one of the following areas is a plus: Ag-Business, Ag-Production, Commodity Merchandising, Dairy, Livestock Production and Management, or Precision Technology.

Prior experience in on-campus and online teaching within a post-secondary environment a plus.

Proficiency in computer software and student learning management systems.

Excellent interpersonal communication, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Dedication to working with a diverse student population and collaborating in a team environment.

Flexibility in course assignments and willingness to engage in light-duty mechanical tasks.

Bilingual proficiency is advantageous.

National Career Readiness Certificate at the gold level or higher is a plus.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

190-day contract. Position starts in August 2024. Salary and benefits set by Watertown Board of Education, depending on experience and qualifications.
