A Laser Department Manager job in East Granby, CT is now accepting applications. This is a permanent
/ direct benefited position with our key manufacturing client. In this role you will be Responsible for the success of the Laser Department, including profit/loss, managing/motivating workforce and ensuring employee adherence to policies and procedures, workmanship standards, scheduling, quality. To be considered you will have an Engineering degree or equivalent experience, and a Minimum 7 years experience in a project engineering role involving the application of manufacturing and materials principles.
Lead projects from concept to final completion; includes quoting, design of special devices, equipment or machines and oversight of machine shop construction and/or assembly.
Support manufacturing processes for both standard and R&D applications.
Perform risk assessments, manufacturing process and engineering analyses to support implementation of changes aimed at improving product quality, productivity, supply, customer satisfaction and yields.
Lead root cause investigations using structured problem solving and lean techniques.
Work with technicians and management in a team-based environment to drive down costs and improve productivity.
Assist the Director or Business Development/ Sales and Marketing and/or President in company operations, including planning, sales, customer relations, financial planning and equipment needs.
Laser Department Manager Experience
Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum 7 years experience in a project engineering role involving the application of manufacturing and materials principles.
The ability to manage, motivate and develop employees and teams.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, mechanical engineering, welding, metallurgy quality control and inspection techniques.
Advanced blueprint reading.
Judgment to determine when a job requires a corrective intervention and the technical, interpersonal and diplomatic skills to ensure a win-win outcome for the company and the customer.
Timely problem solving; analysis of information and development of alternate solutions.
Project plan development.
Ability to work on multiple projects managing a broad range of tasks.
Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
