Job Description

Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking an experienced and motivated Large Loss Field Claims professional to join our team. The position requires the following, but is not limited to:

• Investigate and assemble facts, determine policy coverage, evaluate the amount of the loss.

• Make payments in accordance with coverage and damage determination and perform other functions or duties to properly adjust the loss.

• Handle first-party commercial and residential claims.

• Demonstrate an understanding of insurance policies, endorsements, and forms.

• Demonstrate proficient knowledge of claims handling procedures and skills in claim resolutions.

• Deliver a high level of customer service to our agents, insureds, and others.

• Meet with parties involved in claims.

• Obtain and maintain appropriate adjuster's license(s) as required.

• Drive an automobile, possess a valid driver license, and maintain a driving record consistent with the Company's underwriting guidelines for coverage.

• Complete relevant continuing education programs as required.

• Handle claim activities and investigations through on-site investigations, which may include overnight travel and/or long travel times, within assigned territory or as assigned by management.

• Use technology-based information for reference, enter information into computer systems, and continue to develop specialized skills including property estimating and use of computer-based programs as tools.

• Work on claims of all sizes and complexities with primarily focus being large and complex claims.

• Work closely with the Home Office Claims Examiner team to handle losses of a large and/or complex nature.

• Maintain punctual attendance according to an assigned work schedule, in a remote environment

Desired Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

• A minimum of 3 years handling multi-line property and casualty claims with an emphasis on property claims

• Field claims handling experience is helpful but not required

• Knowledge of Xactimate software is preferred but not required

• Above average communication skills (written and verbal)

• Ability to resolve complex issues

• Organize and interpret data

• Ability to handle multiple assignments

• Possess a valid driver's license
