Lanier Technical College (www.laniertech.edu) is conducting an external search for the following part-time, FLSA non-exempt, non-benefits eligible position. POSITION: Part-Time Audio/Visual Assistant, Forsyth Conference Center

REPORTS TO: A/V COORDINATOR

SALARY: $20 - $25 Hourly; up to 29 hours per week

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The AV Assistant is responsible for assisting in the operations and audio visual of events at the Forsyth Conference Center. Coordinates and/or supervises the set up and break down of dining and meeting rooms for all functions. Coordinates catering and food operations at the Conference Center when needed. Assists in audiovisual setup with the customers and overseeing the AV at events. Works closely with Event Office, Operations Manager and AV Coordinator to prepare for each event.

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Install a computer cart (or other source) with connections to power and the Crestron AV network;

  • Set up and confirm operation, prior to event, of the required audio/video devices;

  • Coordinate with speakers/visitors for their microphone needs;

  • Instruct visitors in the use and operation of the Audio Visual equipment;

  • Monitor live events for any issues that may require immediate technical assistance;

  • Ability to troubleshoot common issues with audio visual equipment;

  • Work a flexible schedule including early mornings, nights and weekends based on the event schedule;

  • Assists in operations at Conference Center events as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A High School diploma or equivalent. Must be willing to work flexible hours, juggle multiple and competing priorities, and participate in appropriate staff development and campus activities. Candidate must work well under minimal supervision to manage operations and audio visual for events at the Forsyth Conference Center. Positive attitude and strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required.

PHYSICAL COMPONENTS:

Requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending, crouching, climbing (including working from ladders), lifting light and heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.), and using tools and equipment that require finger and hand dexterity. Ability to drive a lift.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Basic Knowledge of computer and network hardware, operating systems (Windows and MAC OS), and presentation software: i.e. PowerPoint;

  • Basic Knowledge of various types of media used in presentations;

  • Basic Knowledge of the available options for connecting Windows and Apple devices to the Crestron Network;

  • Application knowledge to connect various computers to the Audio/Video system;

  • Knowledge of the Video resolution and Video data transmission;

  • Skill in providing excellent customer service;

  • Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs - MS Office, Image Editing, file management;

  • Effective skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public;

  • Effective decision making and problem solving skills;

  • Ability to perform physical requirements of position;

Associate degree *and

  • Three (3) years of work related experience Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned. Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
