Job Summary The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Landscape & Grounds Manager on the Gainesville campus.

This position is responsible for the supervision of all staff on the Grounds Crew; planning, scheduling, organizing, and directing work; training of personnel; staff evaluation, praising, coaching, and discipline; shop organization; maintaining shop spaces and equipment; managing supplier and service contracts; selection and purchasing of materials; planning and implementation of new programs; making recommendations to leadership; and leading a safe and efficient operation. Responsibilities Manages all day-to-day operational and administrative activities of assigned staff; monitors workload, work orders, available resources, and work scheduling to ensure delivery of services and project completion. Provides training to all Grounds staff on topics such as safety, proper work techniques, chemical application, equipment operation, and other topics.

Manages supply and service contracts to ensure fair pricing, timely and quality work, and validate invoices and contract terms. Hires, trains, coaches, develops, disciplines, and performs performance evaluations on assigned personnel. Establishes and maintains good morale and good working relationships on the team.

Ensures operations are compliant with applicable laws, policies, and best practices. Participates in design meetings with university stakeholders and design professional. Assists with the development and implementation of campus standards for outdoor environments.

Reviews current industry data concerning new products, technology, equipment, and best practices. Recommends changes that will make the organization more efficient and effective. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of University procurement processes Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills; Ability to use Microsoft Office applications; contract and project management; ability to monitor, forecast, and operate within established budgets; Ability to operate power tools, large landscape machinery and heavy equipment.

Must be able to perform preventive maintenance on equipment.

Must be able to understand and follow specific oral and written instruction. Must be able to give out daily assignments to staff.

Must have the ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time, often in adverse weather conditions. Must be able to work at heights up to 65 feet. Must be able to qualify, use, and maintain a government purchase card.

Requires occasional cell phone contact outside of typical hours, most for emergency situations such as random weather emergencies, building issues, etc Required Qualifications High School Diploma/GED required. Possess a State of Georgia Driver's License. Five years of experience in supervising maintenance and grounds personnel.

Experience in training teams, inspecting grounds, administrative functions. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications Technical degree or certification preferred.
