Landfill Groundskeeper

Job Description Summary

Assist in landfill operations by performing grounds labor work. Limited judgment is exercised; opportunity for discretion is limited and procedures well defined.

Job Responsibilities

Operate a City vehicle along the main routes to the landfill picking up trash and litter in the roadways and ditches. Assist in the cleanliness and maintenance of the landfill grounds by picking up litter, trash, mowing, and snow removal.

Assist landfill operator with minor repair jobs and refueling equipment. When needed, operate the landfill scale and direct traffic at the entry gate to disposal areas. Perform overtime as required; perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education & Requirements

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school level education or G.E.D. Must possess valid Nebraska driver's license.

Color Vision: Adequate to perform essential job functions

Hearing: Frequently perceive nature of sounds by ear

Eye/Hand/Foot Coordination: Frequently operates vehicle and equipment requiring moderate ability

Manual Dexterity: Frequently operates vehicle and equipment and tools requiring moderate ability
