Position Summary

Responsible for set up and operation of laminator along with a Laminator Assistant. Laminator Operator position provides leadership and ensures machine is running correctly. Works 12-hour rotating shifts; shifts subject to change based on company need.

Essential Duties and Tasks

  • Follows all safety policies and procedures. Ensures that co-workers are also following safety rules.

  • Commitment, awareness and involvement pertaining to ISO (policy, standards, procedures, etc.) and food safety practices (GMPs, procedures, etc.) are requirements of all employees.

  • Set up and operate laminator with cooperation of assistant according to spec sheet.

  • Consistently run high quality products efficiently.

  • Anticipate potential problems through observation and attention to detail.

  • Assist others in resolving issues (people, system, maintenance)

  • Ensure safe and proper assembly of machine. Perform minor maintenance.

  • Perform Quality tests and enter data accurately into Axapta.

  • Manage machine crew by providing direction and/or correction

  • Train lower level employees

  • Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean working environment.

  • Demonstrates appropriate attitude in all dealings with co-workers, customers, and suppliers.

  • Consistently at work and on time.

Qualifications/Education and or Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

  • One to three months related experience and/or training.

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Outlook internet software and Shop Floor Manufacturing software.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Works 12 hour rotating shifts; shifts subject to change based on company need. Works primarily on the windup end of the extruder but can also fill in on both the 2nd hand and operator positions by performing the following duties. This position serves as a feeder position to Extruder Operator. Essential Duties and Tasks To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Contacts proper personnel with questions regarding specs. * Assists in the startup/shutdown of the line. Can thread the machine using various web paths, as different equipment is required depending on customer specifications. * Complete checklists and production reports daily. Completes machine check sheets. * Performs routine maintenance of slitters, back rings, trim blowers, trim chutes and troubleshoots problems. * Aligns cut widths for splitting and proper alignment with web for even trimming. * Identifies problems and relays information to appropriate personnel. * Loads and operates secondary unwind including control panel. * Knows the cause of curl, what process or raw material variables affect it and can make the appropriate changes to run a quality product that meets the customers specifications. * Check poly levels in the silo and calculate amount needed for job. * Calculate weight of base paper and finished paper. * Learn operator duties to provide relief for vacation or machine crew shortages and safety, quality, and productivity for crew. * Support operator's expectations to objectives in safety, quality, and productivity. * Ensures adherence of company policies and lead the crew when in the operator position. * Ability to fill-in on Extruder Operator job when necessary. * Demonstrates appropriate attitude in all dealings with co-workers, customers, and suppliers. * All other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Education and Experience * High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required. * Nine to twelve months related experience and/or training. * Equivalent combination of education and experience. * Exceptional time management and organization skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines. * Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations) with executive leadership, staff, and internal and external clients. * Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision making; able to identify problems and needs, and develop solutions and/or options. * Self-confident, self-motivated polished professional who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
