Lactation consultant (PER DIEM) to assist in providing services to all patients in UNC Hospital and clinics. This is rotating position of D/N with some weekends.

This position requires experience with preterm infants, newborns and older infants for seeing patients in our outpatient setting, Requires experience working in a tertiary care center. Will provide consultation on lactation; guidance with feeding plans; patient education; telephone triage of lactating mother/baby dyads and clinical evaluation.

This is a per diem position requiring a minimum of 24 hours of work per month, shift varies based on needs of department, but is rotating but night shift coverage preferred.

Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Education or related field. Certified Lactation Consultant by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBCLE). Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification within one (1) month from date of hire.

If Bachelor's degree: Six (6) months of experience in breastfeeding and lactation support is required.

Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, ability to work in a team and establish collegial relationships with faculty and staff. Experience in using and developing content for online course management systems (e.g. open source and/or proprietary systems). Professional preparation in using an array of instructional technologies including hardware and software, multimedia technologies, the Internet, and distributed/distance learning techniques.
