Responsible for performing tasks involving physical labor at building, highway, and heavy construction projects, tunnel and shaft excavations, and demolition sites operating hand and power tools of all types including air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment and a variety of other equipment and instruments, cleaning and preparing sites, digging trenches, cleaning up rubble and assisting other craft workers

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures

  • Perform a variety of functions such as dig, spread and level dirt and gravel with a pick or shovel

  • Lift, carry and hold building materials, tools and supplies

  • Clean tools, equipment, materials and work areas

  • Mix, pour and place concrete, gravel and other materials using hand tools

  • Join, wrap and seal sections of pipe

  • Perform a variety of routine, non-machine tasks, such as removing forms from set concrete, filling expansion joints with caulking and rebar placement

  • General cleanup, demolition, use of cutting torch, jackhammers and placing culvert or pipe sections in trench

  • Spend time on one job or may be transferred from task to task as the project progresses to completion

  • May be required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice

  • Maintain an appropriate appearance

  • Other duties as assigned by Foreman or Superintendent

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek's Zero Injury principles

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals

  • Add and subtract two digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10's and 100's ability to perform these operations using units weight measurement and volume

  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form

  • Be able to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards

In addition, SKL-Ts may be assigned other tasks as needed during construction of wind projects including any foundation, offload or erection activities. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures * Complete all required Safety documentation * Climb wind turbines daily and perform activities required to assemble and mechanically complete wind turbines * Uses taglines to control suspended loads during assembly of wind turbine components * Bolts, nails, aligns, screws, torques, tensions parts associated with wind turbine construction * Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery to load, offload, push and pull. * Level earth to fine grade specifications using shovel or other hand tool * Mix concrete or grout using portable mixer * Smooth and finish freshly poured concrete using float, trowel or screed * Position, join, align and connect pumps, motors and other mechanical or metal parts inside a wind turbine * Mop, brush or spread paints or bituminous compounds over surfaces for protection * Spray materials such as water, sand, steam, vinyl, paint or stucco through hose to clean, coat or seal surfaces * Apply caulking compounds by hand or with caulking gun to seal crevices * Grind, sand or polish surfaces such as concrete and steel, using abrasive tools or machines * Perform tasks involving use of hands and tools such as torqueing/tensioning bolts and studs, assembling metal parts, building bolt cages, vibrating concrete, sawing lumber, dismantling forms, removing forms from concrete, and demolitions, cleanup, use of jackhammers, etc. * May be required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice * Maintain a professional appearance * Other Duties as assigned EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: * High school diploma or general education degree (GED * One to three years of experience in construction and/or equivalent combination of training a and experience TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONS * Tower Rescue Training * Wanzek Climb training * LOTO * Tool Drop * Confined Space KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: * Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek's Zero Injury principles * Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals * Add and subtract two digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10's and 100's ability to perform these operations using units, weight measurement and volume * Ability to understand units of force, pressure and torque and apply appropriate tooling adjustments for each * Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form Physical Demands and Work Environment – ALL CRAFT POSITIONS WORK ENVIRONMENT * Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions * Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts high, precarious places and extreme heat * Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration * Noise level in the work environment is usually loud PHYSICAL DEMANDS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions WE ARE AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER MasTec, Inc. is an equal employment opportunity employer.
