Job Title: Laborer


Cleans and keeps in an orderly condition working areas and washrooms, or premises of an office, commercial or other establishment. Performs tasks which requires mainly physical abilities and effort involving little or no specialized skill or minimum work experience. Duties involve a combination of the following:

Essential Job Functions:

  • Sweeps, mops or scrubs, and polishes floors

  • Remove chips, trash, and other refuse

  • Cleans equipment, furniture, or fixtures

  • Cleans lavatories, showers, and restrooms

  • Loads and unloads trucks, and other conveyances

  • Moves supplies and materials to proper location by handtrucks or company vehicles

  • Stacks materials for storage or binning

  • Performs general interior or exterior cleanup

  • Collects refuse and salvageable materials

  • Moves and arranges heavy pieces of office and household furniture, equipment, and appliances; moves heavy pieces of automotive, medical engineering, and other types of machinery and equipment.

  • Picks up leaves and trash

  • Use Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) to identify chemical characteristics.

  • Complete Work Orders daily and accurately.

  • Assembles fabric structures, like Alaskan Shelter Systems.

  • Work also involves other duties as assigned.

Physical Effort:

Individual may lift, carry, handle materials, and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds for at least 30 feet and extended periods. Work frequently requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions for extended periods. Must be able to ascend and descend on ladders of various heights.

Working Conditions:

When work is accomplished indoors it is performed in adequately lighted and climate controlled office settings. When accomplished outdoors it can be performed in all climates including hot and cold temperatures for extended periods of time. The work involves minimal risks and observance of safety precautions.

Experience: Two years' experience relevant to the job description and working conditions above required.

Education Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Security Clearance: Must have and maintain an U.S. Secret Clearance

This job is considered a senior superintendent position and may be responsible for directing the work of lower level Managers and/or trades, craft, or administrative staff and sub-contractor personnel. This position is typically assigned difficult projects and performs a variety of O&M or construction project management functions on activities associated with assigned construction assignments. This position may require intermediate travel within the north east region. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * The ability to perform remedial task using basic computer software like, scheduling, update reports, and email. * Must have the ability to read, and interpret construction drawings to properly direct subcontractors to execution of work. * Perform difficult and challenging construction and project management functions including planning, directing and budgeting for assigned projects. * Perform construction and project management administration functions, handling a variety of actions and problems relating to assigned projects. Report project fund status reports, reviews billing procedures and contractual requirement submittals. * Assist with project design plan review to accomplish contractual objectives and provide direction and support to subcontractors, support staff, trades and crafts. * Monitor requirements necessary to obtain progress payments, quantity options, government-furnished property, etc. and/or administers specific phases of complex contracts. * May be responsible for assisting on the development of agendas for both pre-and post-job conferences. * Perform desktop publishing. Creates and assists in the development of visual presentations for the section. * Prepare worksheets for cost accounting by analyzing blueprints, plans, and related customer documents. This position may also consult with engineering staff and other technical personnel as required. * Responsible for assisting Project Manager with budgets for assigned projects. * Assist in the analysis of new projects for consistency with proposals and negotiations. Reconciles inconsistencies between proposals and new projects and analyzes the effects of proposed project changes. This position may also provide management assistance with the coordination and negotiation of project changes. * May prepare customer correspondence concerning project commitments, modifications and change orders. * Responsible for keeping current on government regulations and commercial trends. Monitors project compliance requirements to ensure compliance with Service Contract Act, Davis Bacon Act and other Federal regulations as required. * Maintain customer relations through communication both face to face, and digital. Professional appearance is desirable. * Responsible for all employee training on all assigned projects. * Responsible for safety of all personnel on job, including sub personnel, compliance with environment standards and quality of work performed. * Responsible for scheduling of work to be performed and overall project completion time based on IAW project plan. Communicate with customer regarding any deviations from the schedule. * Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements * Five (10) years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job * Four (4) years supervisory experience preferred * Experience in government contracting, general construction and financial administration * Knowledge of U.S. Government procurement regulations and labor laws desirable * Must pass OSHA 30-hour safety course * Must pass Corps of Engineers 10 hour CQM class for contractors * Must pass ASHE HCC certification class. * Excellent management and employee, and customer relations skills. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters. * Ability to work independently and recommend solutions to problems. Possibly at remote sites. * Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Project. * Experience with P6 (Oracle) is preferred. * Superior attention to detail. * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while attending to multiple tasks and demands. Physical, Environmental and Sensory Requirements * Position works in office areas as well as through construction jobsites. * Physical demands include intermittent sitting, standing, and walking, and occasional bending, reaching, and lifting. * Moderate exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, moving machinery, etc., typical of a construction site. * Ability to travel 10-20% of the time.
