This position will be assigned to the Polar Bowl Bowling Alley.

Responsibilities

Loads, unloads, or relocates heavy bulky items from boxcars, trucks, and other conveyances; carries and assembles scaffolding. Digs ditches and trenches.

Breaks up pavement with jackhammer; mixes and pours concrete, asphalt, and hot mix; fills and levels holes in damaged roads. Use heavy (not domestic type) power mowers; adjusts blades, and cleans and oils mowers; cut trees using ax or chain. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Significant Facts:

Physical Effort: Heavy physical effort is required in frequently lifting and moving objects weighing over 50 pounds, and in using heavy hand tools and operating equipment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:

Experience which demonstrated the ability to operate, control ad clean heavy powered equipment. Must be able to follow oral and/or written instructions.

Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry heavy objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds. Work that does not require skills and knowledge in operating heavy equipment, continually involves extreme physical effort; such as constantly lifting or carrying objects weighing 80-100 pound or more. Must be able to satisfactorily complete pre-employment physical to include a hearing test. Must be able to complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

Education

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of standardized transportation regulations, procedures, and operations related to one or more transportation support functions to perform a full range of dispatching duties and resolve recurring problems; Knowledge of geographic area served; Knowledge of the characteristics and capacity of the equipment & vehicles being dispatched to resolve recurring problems and coordinate actions; Knowledge of vehicle safety rules, regulations, and guidance; Knowledge of one or more automated transportation databases sufficient to input a range of standard information to maintain dispatch logs and records; Knowledge of contingency operations to real world/exercise emergency situations pertaining to vehicle operations; Knowledge of proper use of communications radios and procedures; Knowledge of the policies, practices, and procedures for dispatching or scheduling heavy construction equipment, airfield clearing equipment and general purpose motor vehicles and maintaining related documentation. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
