Incumbent performs a variety of duties in different work settings. Tasks involve moderately heavy physical effort and the use of common manual hand tools and equipment (e.g., hatchets, clippers, shovel, crow bar, screw drivers, hand saw, hand truck, dolly) and simple power equipment (e.g., lawnmowers, wet vacuums, steam cleaners, low-pressure sprayers, hand buffers) and typically include:

  1. Loading, unloading, and moving heavy, bulky objects, such as furniture and equipment, by hand, hand truck, or dolly; collecting and emptying garbage cans.
  2. Opening crates and boxes using crowbars and cutting packing strips with shears. Packs items in boxes or bags for shipment.
  3. Digging ditches where grading and sloping is not required; filling holes with dirt; leveling bumps and low places using shovel, hand tamper, and rake.
  4. Watering grounds, laying sod, mowing grass with walking-type power lawnmower; trim small trees and bushes using handsaw or shears.
  5. Shoveling snow.
  6. Washing and waxing vehicles using hand buffer.
  7. Performing simple maintenance, assembly, and repairs on furniture and equipment.

Occasional travel

  • Position(s) may involve work away the official duty location to remote worksites within commuting distance (49 miles) and may also require overnight travel and/or camping per work assignment.
