Position Summary:
The Laboratory Testing Assistant collects specimens and under the supervision of a Medical Laboratory Scientist, performs testing procedures which provides information for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease by conducting medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses on blood, body fluid and other specimen types.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Phlebotomy training required - certification preferred.
Computer keyboard entry experience.
Ability to speak, read and write English.
Minimum of one year experience in a clinical laboratory preferred
Essential Job Functional:
Specimen collection, labeling and processing.
Instructs patients about proper sample collection.
Performs CLIA Waived and Moderately Complex testing under the supervision of a CLIA qualified individual.
Performs and records quality control and instrument checks.
Maintains equipment in proper working order.
Performs special procedures.
Uses the Laboratory Information System to obtain and record data and issue results
Follows and maintains competency on all standard operating procedures.

Ability to work in a busy and stressful environment
Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize
Training and or experience in Phlebotomy
Strong Computer skills
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Creativity, problem analysis and decision making
Ability to meet hospital requirements for the operation of fleet vehicles required
Ability to work varied shifts
