About the role

The overall responsibilities of the laboratory analyst include independently conducting routine

and non-routine analyses of geological samples.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and perform maintenance on ICP, AA & SIE instruments;

  • Perform wet assay analytical works including gravimetric and volumetric analyses;

  • Perform Umpire and Control analyses;

  • Prepare sample dilutions, instrument operating solutions and calibration standards;

  • Test and evaluate calibration standards;

  • Identify and correct QC related problems by ensuring the quality of the analytical data meets

ALS standards;

  • Organize workload according to daily stats and turnaround commitments in the absence of T3,

supervisor and manager;

  • Follow up on rush priority work orders;

  • Effectively liaise within department to communicate safety, quality and operational issues;

  • Ensure all work instructions and standard working procedures are strictly adhered to;

  • In conjunction with the supervisor, perform tests to modify and improve analytical procedures;

  • Maintain and organize equipment and other ISO document records;

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all safety requirements within the

Safety Manual and communicating all safety concerns to the Manager.

About you

Strong analytical skills and wet assay techniques;

  • Quality focused individual; Commitment to Excellence, Team Leader

  • Organized, highly motivated, detail oriented and able to work both independently and as part of

a team;

  • Ability to effectively handle a high volume of work and time critical issues;

  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal);

  • Strong MS Office skills, specifically MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

Required Qualifications

Diploma/Degree in Chemical Sciences or Technology, or BCIT Certificate Preferred

Minimum of 1 year laboratory work experience in analytical chemistry, instrumentation or a

related field preferred.

Diploma or Degree in Chemical Sciences or Technology preferred but not required.

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hours per shift;

  • Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks;

  • Able to lift up to 20 litre containers.
